Jon's Pov

"Hey Damian, is Marinette okay?She hasn't been in school all week." Damain gave me the usual eye-roll, before returning to his work.

"She's in Paris for the next week or so. I think she's attending a reunion or a birthday." I stared at Damian, worried. Damain had been acting weird all day. Like, he was giving me straight answers, and he wasn't being as much of a jerk as he usually was? I had been probing to see if he could find out what happened, but so far, nothing.

"Hey can I come over after school?"

"Mmmhmm." Like what was that? Damian never grunted a response. Maybe I'll ask Alfred when I go over.

"Mr, Kent, please pay attention to your own work, not your desk mate's."

"Sorry Mrs. Henshaw."

It was shaping up to be a long day.

3rd Person Pov

They held a memorial for Adrien so that the people who couldn't come to the personal funeral could still say goodbye to their friend. Really sweet gesture, right? Wrong! At least, for Lila it wasn't.

Lila hated it. Now she had to act sad and upset, because even though she had gotten the class to hate him, losing their ex-friend had still left most of them shell-shocked. And since she needed to be on their good side, she had to act sad too.

Uggg. It was s stupid. This isn't what she thought would happen. The events had worked in her favor, sure, but it had made it harder for her as well. Now she was going to have to act like she lost a close friend for who knows how long. And she had to nail the act perfectly.

Lila could tell people were watching her. She couldn't tell who, but she knew here every move was being monitored, every word being heard through a filter. She was going to have to be very careful. In fact, she had to spend over an hour yesterday forcing herself to cry before she got it right. Oh well. it's not like she had much of a choice. She had to keep her act up. Life was to good right now to bring her empire crashing down.

Lila turned her attention back to the service, growling a little when she saw Marinette standing by an old dude in a suit. What is she doing here?  Lila rolled her eyes. Of course she was invited, Adrien was to soft for his own good.  The nerve of that girl, showing up to Adrien's memorial.

"We will miss Adrien deeply, and we wish him best in the next life. There are refreshment in the back for anyone who would like to stay and talk, if not, please use the doors on the left to exit." Finally. That was the longest memorial ever. Lila ran before any of her classmates could talk to her. She was sick and tired of having to act sad, and she did not want to see Marinette.

                                                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sabine sighed as she placed a pan of bread in the oven. She missed Marinette. She regretted sending her away. She had done some digging and found out that Lila had, well, lied. And she had also gotten a very angry phone call from Bruce telling her that she needed to do her own research and not trust some little girl. Both Sabine and Tom had cried after the call, feeling incredibly ashamed in themselves. She was so ashamed that when she saw Marinette at the service, she turned and left instead of staying and talking to her. It was...depressing.
Sabine washed her hands and hung up her apron before heading to the back room, still lost in thought. She hated herself. How someone could do what she did to their own flesh-and-blood, she did not know, but it made her sick to her stomach every time she thought about it. She needed to make it up to Marinette. She had to. Sabine wanted her daughter back.
