Context: Science class, choose a biome and talk about it. This was made in 6th grade so it's not the best. We had partners for this so it's not all my work.

Unique & Identifying Features About The Desert

This biome has unique and identifies features such as:

There are low precipitation levels,

Usually has very hot days and freezing nights,

Has a little number of producers and consumers,

Has unique producers like the cactus, and can be green or nothing.

Average Annual/Daily Temperatures & Seasonal Changes

Mojave desert- has 2 seasons from winter to summer. Can get from 8 degrees to 120 degrees and can get winds from 25-75 mph.

Arabian desert- the temperature can be from 104-115 degrees Fahrenheit. There is mostly only one season in this part of the biome.

Kalahari desert- Has around two seasons with highs being in the 90s and lows being in the 30s.

How Much Damage Is Human Impact?

Human impact rating 8 we destroy the deserts by off-roading, military stuff like testing bombs, and mining. People are destroying the Desert with their experiments and turning land into industrial solar power generation.

What Are The Impacts That We Make?

When we drive our cars we destroy the vegetation and water mining from reservoirs can damage the environment and the animals that live in the environment. Trenching involved with pipelines of gas, oil, and water have made grounds unstable and almost barren to the point where there is no vegetation for the animals in the environment.

What Actions Are Being Taken?

In March 2000, the Center, Sierra Club, and Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility stepped in to initiate a revolution in wildlife and ecosystem protection across the California Desert Conservation Area, filing suit against the Bureau of Land Management and the Fish and Wildlife Service on behalf of 24 endangered species that had been hurt by poor land management.
