The sound of a gong woke up Wei Xinyi. According to her World it should be 7 in the morning. She swiftly carried out her daily routines before sitting down in front of the mirror. It was just a shiny, golden, oval shaped thing. Yet the face before her was unmistakably hers. She stared some more as the beautiful face of Lu Xinyi stared back at her. It was atleast 60% similar to her previous face. The rest was clearly similar to Wei Wuxian's. At a single glance their features would be recognised as similar. She shook her head and dragged her body to the main room of the Manor. There is no way her brother is waking up right now.
Over the course of 10 years she has deeply ingrained herself into the role of Wei Xinyi, The Young Lady of Yilling and the sister of the Sect Heir Wei Wuxian. She has come to deeply love him as her own brother. Some things didn't change. Wei Wuxian visited Yunmeng a few times till he was 10 and got along well with the Sect and the Disciples. He called Jiang Yanli Shijie, ate her soup and was brothers with Jiang Cheng. The only difference? He loved his Meimei the most. He was super protective over her and cared for her deeply.
As soon as he knew that his Meimei had to hold up the barrier alone when he went to play in Lotus Pier,he silently stopped going there and casually smiled whenever Wei Xinyi asked him. Likewise Wei Xinyi tried protecting him more like a mother than a sister. Over the years the two had grown up wonderfully with two bright golden cores. Of course Wei Wuxian was better than her in cultivation as she carefully distributed her time between the kitchen and sword fighting.
Wei Xinyi reached the main hall and gathered all the missives to work on them. She knew Wei Wuxian hated paperwork hence she took it upon herself to complete them. Burial Mounds and Yilling had grown prosperously over the years and the clans mostly stayed away from them. Of course the Lan Sect, paragon of righteousness wouldn't attack a Sect with no Leader especially after appropriate punishment was given to the culprit. Thinking about that,a bitter feeling rose within her.
When she reached the last missive, she was rendered shock.
It was a missive.
The missive for the Cultivation Alliance Conference. It was held every five years in the honour of young talents. It was currently hosted by the present Chief Cultivator's Sect, Jin Sect of Lanling. When she was 7, Qingheng-Jun gave the position to Jiang Fengmian and when she was 12 it got passed to Jin Guangshan. The next was probably Nie Sect of Qinghe.
When it was held previously, naturally the Elders attended it in place of the Wei siblings. No problems or chaos was seen. This time naturally both Wei Wuxian and Wei Xinyi would attend since the various competitions organised was for Young Masters aged between 15 and 20. According to the plotline many Red Thread Soulmates would be found during this week long competition given the last day of the competition was a New Moon Day; naturally the only day in the month where the Thread is actually visible to naked eyes. It is said the more brighter, thicker and longer the Thread is the more is the compatibility. The most easiest thing to determine it was to just measure the length by palm length. The maximum recorded in history was 24 palm length and it was the Immortal Cultivator Baoshan Sanren and her Soulmate. However they never ended up together which was a pity as many said.
She was shook out of her thoughts by a very loud Wei Wuxian running after the younger disciples. Smiling Wei Xinyi made her way out of the study and came across a very enthusiastic Wei Wuxian trying to help someone swim.
Sorry.
Trying to help an actual, living chicken swim.
The bird made a dying noise, flapping it's wings as Wei Wuxian pulled it out cackling loudly. Truly, watching the gentlemanly face of Wei Wuxian's actor in the drama do these things was .... amusing.
"A-Xian," Wei Xinyi spoke amusement evident in her voice.
"Eh? Xinyi? What are you doing here my dearest Meimei!!!! I missed you....." He childishly pouted opening his arms for a hug. Wei Xinyi shook her head in amusement before indulging her brother in a hug. Wei Wuxian was taller than her by atleast a head giving him the advantage.
"Have you eaten? Should I make something for you?" Wei Xinyi inquired.
" Yes! Yes! I have. You don't have to worry. Come, let's practice sword fighting and then we can hunt some pheasants,eh?" Wei Wuxian's chatter did seem non-ending!
"We will. But before that come read a missive we have received today."
Wei Xinyi led him to her study and gave him the missive to read. She could clearly see the seriousness in his eyes turn into excitement. A reaction she totally expected. Since they were 12 years old, they held up the barrier from outside as well. And they didn't even sweat. Their golden core was mature and big by then.
" Say Meimei! Are we going? Huh? We are, right? This is for once only? What about the elders? Hmmm???" Wei Wuxian was practically bouncing on his feet.
Wei Xinyi allowed herself a small smile at his antics before nodding in agreement. Moreover every five years the List of the Best 10 Cultivators was based on this event alone. Clearly it was an important event. That day the elders agreed to Wei Xinyi's proposal. The children were grown up already. They need to experience the real world, get involved in the politics and declare their strength before Wei Wuxian bacame Sect Leader after all.
That night Wei Xinyi wrote a letter to their Jiujiu,Xiao Xingchen who with his Cultivation Partner Song Zichen was night hunting in a small village near Tanzhou. After three days, doned in the opulent and vibrant red and black coloured robes of the Wei Sect, Wei Wuxian and Wei Xinyi head to Lanling on their respective swords, Suibian and Xingguang respectively.
