Wei Xinyi looked up from the book she was writing. In order to not forget the storyline and other important things from her own life in the 21st century, she wrote everything down in English, which was the language these people can never decipher.
The disciple was sweating and hurriedly bowed before her.
"Shijie. There is trouble in Yilling. Six people have gone missing since the morning!!" He told anxiously.
Wei Xinyi was obviously stunned. How can people just disappear in broad daylight.
She frowned.
"Explain. Why are you telling me now only?" She asked.
"I.... When the news came, I couldn't find you. So I went to Head Disciple to report. He hasn't returned since hours," he was obviously worried.
Wei Xinyi shut her book close and grabbed her sword before proceeding to go to Yilling. Turns out, people disappeared before they could cross the forests to the east of Yilling, which wasn't that far from Burial Mounds.
When the disciples asked her to let them accompany her, she obviously refused. Their Head Disciple, Shi Gu, was an excellent archer and a good cultivator. If he faced trouble, Wei Xinyi wouldn't imagine risking the lives of the junior disciples, obviously.
So, she completely sealed the Barriers before she went to the location to look for the problem. The information was very precise, six people, seven if you count Shi Gu all have disappeared. One was even a four year child and two were maidens who had gone to collect flowers. Yilling was a peaceful place. The Wei Sect always had enthusiastic cultivators who first, cleared and hunted all corpses in their own ground since Yilling was a small place before night hunting elsewhere.
So, usually such cases were not seen.
As soon as Wei Xinyi stepped into the forest, she unsheathed her sword. Her eyes darted around, but she couldn't find any trace of any resentful energy. Confused, she walked deeper into the forest, unaware of the looming danger.....

Wei Wuxian had never fought so vigorously before. Just as Wei Xinyi predicted, the rogue cultivators attacked from the waterways of Lotus Pier. And they were huge in numbers.
It would have been fine if it was only cultivators they were fighting, after all, being one of the Main Sects, Lotus Pier was stronger in number.
However, the innumerable number of corpses was difficult to counter. Wei Wuxian was fighting back-to-back against Jiang Cheng who was no less tired than him.
'Shijie is in Lanling....'
'Jiang Cheng is right beside me...'
'I saw Madam Yu just now....'
'Jiang Shushu...he... Where is he?'
A lot of thoughts were running in his mind. Wei Wuxian furrowed his brows and continued cutting down the corpses. Even if there wasn't a lot of deaths, many disciples were tired. The corpse, were poorly controlled, similar to those in Phoenix mountain's hunt. But someone could actually control them???
Just then, Wei Wuxian heard a blood curdling scream and snapped to look at a horrifying scene. There was a men, in red robes, he had a sword in his left hand and a cruel face. A dozen cultivators protected him as he walked in the middle of the ring they formed.
And all he did was touch the other person's dantian. And then, the person fell down screaming.
"What...?" Jiang Cheng looked on, Confused.
