"But Lan Zhan! My Meimei is here! Let me go with you! Husband!" Wei Wuxian whined as he rolled on his bed, throwing a tantrum.

Lan Wangji stared at him in fond exasperation as Wei Wuxian messed up the sheets.

"Okay, Wei Ying, I will take you," Lan Wangji complied lifting Wei Wuxian in his arms.

Wei Wuxian's eyes lightened up as he kissed Lan Wangji happily.

"Really! Lan Zhan, I love you so much! Let's tell A-Yuan! He will be so happy!" Wei Wuxian laughed as he was carried to the table.

Lan Wangji placed him on the cushion and moved to the bed to rearrange the sheets.

Knock! Knock!

"Enter," Lan Wangji said.

"A-Ying, sign them!!" Wei Xinyi stormed inside, dressed in black, with the white Gusu robes over her robes.

"What? I just signed a bunch in the morning!" Wei Wuxian pouted at the papers. The worst part of being a Sect Leader was the paperwork! Luckily, Wei Wuxian had his sister to help him before and now his oh-so-wonderful husband.

Seeing Wei Wuxian's pout, Lan Wangji huffed, hiding a smile and extended his hand towards Wei Xinyi for the papers. His signatures do just as fine as Wei Wuxian's anyway.

"You spoil him Hanguang-Jun! Let him do his work!" Wei Xinyi groaned as her brother smiled dreamily at Lan Wangji.

"It's okay. Wei Ying is often tired after leading the disciples in training," Lan Wangji remarked. As if Lan Wangji ever missed a training! He even taught some Gusu sword forms to the clearly willing disciples!

Wei Xinyi shook her head, smiling.

Wei Wuxian hit jackpot with Lan Wangji, alright?

"Meimei, Lan Zhan and I are off tomorrow with my baby and nephews to their first night hunt okay? Have fun here!" Wei Wuxian said, as he slowly moved into Lan Wangji's lap. Lan Wangji shifted back, as Wei Wuxian plopped down on his lap, snuggling into him naturally.

Wei Xinyi couldn't help but smile a bit more.

"Alright! I am trusting you with the kids! You better take care of them," Wei Xinyi joked.

Wei Wuxian nodded, already falling asleep.

Lan Wangji worked on the papers and returned those back to her.

"Thank you, Saozi," Lan Wangji said, tilting his head in greeting.

Wei Xinyi nodded as Lan Wangji finally lifted Wei Wuxian up and placed him on the bed and then she left the room smiling to herself.

Now that, is her ship, alright?✨✨

...

The night hunt was in Yi City. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were accompanying Wei Sizhui, Lan JingYi, Jin Rulan and Nie Zizhen on their first night hunt. All were well into their teens, being 13 years while Sizhui was 12.

Wei Wuxian twirled Chen Qing happily as he talked with Lan Wangji about his Jiujiu visiting him next month. Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen had been travelling a lot in the past few years. They barely came back once a year, with their daughter, Song Qing who was 18 this year and the Jiejie of the four juniors.

They didn't meet often, but they all followed her like ducklings.

"Jiujiu! Is that....?" JingYi noticed the strange array first, as he clenched his sword.

Wei Wuxian smirked as he immediately recognised the array but hummed in affirmation, letting the Juniors figure it out on their own. The case was very ordinary for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. Albeit a difficult one for 13 year old kids.

They approached the array, which was reeking of resentful energy. However, it was obvious someone had unintentionally tampered with it, setting the resentful beast free from the restraint.

That creature must be the one eating and killing the cattles in the villages.

Out of the four, Zizhen was the oldest and the strategist of the team, having learnt from one of the best out there (Obviously Nie Huaisang!). Jin Ling was hot blooded and an excellent archer for his age, courtesy of Jiang Cheng. Lan JingYi, out of the four was best with sword and talismans. But Sizhui had the most useful skill. He fought with the sword if needed, could fight from a distance with his Qin like his father, as well as talk to the spirits if required, via enquiry.

Wei Wuxian watched off from the side, smirking as the four dueled with the beast. He was definitely proud and so was his husband who was wearing a small smile on his face. As Wei Wuxian had predicted, JingYi took the last attack and the beast was subdued. Zizhen immediately fixed the array while Jin Ling drew off wards around it. Sizhui played Rest, albeit a bit clumsily but definitely nice for a 12 year old.

"My little ducklings! Lan Zhan, did you see that? Didn't they do well!!??" Wei Wuxian gushed, running towards them in excitement.

The Juniors were happy with the praise as Lan Wangji also nodded at them in appreciation.

All in all, it was a successful first night hunt.

......

Lan Wangji gently slid open the door, as his face softened at the sight.

Wei Sizhui was 13 years old now. A bright and filial child. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji cherished him very much, Wei Wuxian more so. So, when Sizhui came down with a bad fever, which had rarely happened since when was he was a toddler, Wei Wuxian panicked.

He was two minutes away from raiding the Forbidden forests when the healer told him it was just a cold! Normal herbs would work just fine, Sect Leader!

Yet, here was Wei Wuxian, asleep, as he sat against the headboard, their son's head on his lap. Sizhui was sleeping soundlessly and looked less pale than before.

Lan Wangji checked his body temperature with his palm against his forehead and sighed in relief to see it had gone down.

He smiled at his husband's furrowed brows and gently shifted his son to lay his head on the pillow. Then, he covered him with a blanket before carrying Wei Wuxian in his arms to their own bed.

Halfway to their room, Wei Wuxian woke up, mumbling to himself and was surprised to see Lan Wangji.

"Lan-er-gege, A-Yuan?" Wei Wuxian asked anxiously.

"Sizhui is asleep. His fever is fine. Let me take you to bed first," Lan Wangji replied.

Wei Wuxian nodded, pushing his face into Lan Wangji's nape and snuggling in his arms.

"Thank you Lan Zhan. You take care of me so much," Wei Wuxian smiled.

"Mn. Love Wei Ying," Lan Wangji replied, the same sincerity dripping from his voice as two decades ago.

Wei Wuxian's smile widened.

"Love you Lan Zhan...." He mumbled to himself but he knew Lan Wangji heard him anyway....
