"Sect Leader Wei! Can you not run in someone else's territory??" Wei Xinyi furiously whispered trying to drag her idiotic brother back. Wei Wuxian, however could care less that this was Koi Tower and not Burial Mounds.
And how could he not run when he was about to meet his Lan Zhan?
He completely ignored his Meimei's furious whisperings and marched his way to where the Lans were staying for the celebratory banquet. Lanling Jin never lets go of any opportunity to show off and their banquets are always extra like they are.
Wei Wuxian was bouncing on his feet as he knocked at the door.
Qingheng-Jun and Madam Lan were in a separate, more ostentious quarters and only the three Young Masters stayed here.
Wei Xinyi definitely didn't raise an eyebrow when the door was opened by Jin Guangyao. Jin Guangyao, with his perfect, dimpled smile politely invited them into the room. Wei Xinyi leisurely walked, sword in her hand, dressed in her usual black robes. Wei Wuxian however had a dark expression on his face upon seeing only Lan Xichen in the room.
"A-Yao who is-" Lan Xichen paused, his gentle smile slipping for a moment before he schooled it back.
"Er-Ge. It's Sect Leader Wei and Young Lady Wei at the door," Jin Guangyao said walking towards Lan Xichen. Lan Xichen bowed to them and they reciprocated. Wei Xinyi chanced a look at her brother's face which was furrowed slightly.
"Ah. Sect Leader Wei must be looking for Wangji. I am afraid he is called by Fuqin but will be returning soon," Lan Xichen explained serenely.
Wei Wuxian nodded stiffly and replied, "Then I forgive for disturbing Zewu-Jun and.... Lianfang-Jun. I will meet Lan Zhan at the banquet."
"No problem Sect Leader Wei. Why don't you both join us for tea till Wangji returns?" Jin Guangyao said still smiling. Wei Wuxian's face further darkened seeing the familiar address of Lan Wangji's name from Jin Guangyao.
Wei Xinyi knew, that since, Chifeng-Jun, Zewu-Jun and Lianfang-Jun were sworn brothers, they addressed Nie Huaisang, Lan Wangji and all the Jin siblings familiarly. But Lan Wangji was of superior status and not familiar with Jin Guangyao beyond Lan Xichen's acquaintance.
Moreover he has earned a title in the past year. Naturally people address him by his title as Hanguang-Jun and even Jin Guangyao did till now. Wei Xinyi couldn't help but sneer in her mind at how desperate Jin Guangyao was being to show his familiarity with Lan Xichen.
Wei Wuxian didn't comment but nodded and gestured Wei Xinyi to sit down.
Wei Xinyi knew what her brother was thinking and left him to his imagination. After all, Wei Wuxian has subtly ask her once or twice, if she has ever reciprocated Lan Xichen's feelings since the last time in Lanling.
Lan Xichen stiffly sat in his place, his smile straining. Wei Xinyi kept her mouth shut. The three men started a conversation about the new Yueyang Chang Sect. And the watchtowers, of course.
Wei Xinyi observed Lan Xichen from behind her tea cup. Jin Guangyao politely served all of them tea but especially made sure to keep Lan Xichen's cup full. This may look normal between sworn brothers but it was different no matter how Wei Xinyi looked at them.
The subtle touches, the whispers mid-conversation, the way Jin Guangyao sat closer to Lan Xichen spoke volumes about their relationship. In Wei Xinyi's world this would have been normal as day, but it is different here.
For once, oblivious Wei Wuxian also noticed things, and his face was becoming more dark. Just then, there was two sharp knocks and Lan Wangji entered his quarters, looking calm and composed. However, his face immediately softened when his eyes fell on Wei Wuxian's figure at the table.
