I got up early the next morning and made breakfast for Helen in bed. The girls took Deece for a nice walk to the dog park so that Helen could relax a bit.
Last night was odd- even secretly knowing what was going on- Helen is still off and not acting as I would've expected her to knowing she's pregnant.
Bringing the tray of food into her, I set it on the night stand beside the bed and sit beside where she's laying.
"Baby...Helen..." I say and gently shake her arm. Her eyes slowly blink a few times and a small smile comes to her face briefly.
"Mm...morning..."
"I made you breakfast...you hungry?" I ask and she looks over at the tray of food and then up at me.
"Aw...you're so sweet. Thank you." She slowly sits up and moves her pillow to a better position. Taking the tray, I position it over her lap and lean forward and kiss her forehead. "You didn't have to do this."
"I wanted too. You've been working hard while I've been off and I want you to know how much I appreciate you." She begins to cut up her pancakes I made and I get up to start changing my clothes. "The girls took the dog to the park."
"Well they're probably having a blast." She says and bites some pancake off her fork.
Maybe a bit of fun will rouse her into telling me she's expecting.
"Yeah- so...when you're done with your breakfast—maybe we can...you know..." She chews slower and looks at me a bit before swallowing and taking a sip of orange juice.
"I'm sorry, Babe- I'm not really feeling well."
"Oh...what's wrong?" Morning sickness?
"I just don't feel well."
"Okay. I just...ya know. I thought I'd put the offer out there." Hmm...she's rather off today. Usually she's jumping at any opportunity she can get.
But I know being pregnant can sometimes lower your sexual desire.
"No, I get it." She awkwardly says and eats some of her food before looking up at me. "You hungry?"
"Oh—no. I ate already." I place my hand on her upper thigh and rub up and down. When I touch her stomach she seems to almost pause and take a deep breath before continuing to eat. "Did I tickle you?"
"No."
"Well you just made an odd face." I say with a smize. She takes a sip of orange juice and then puts her fork down.
"I'm full." I look down at her food and she only ate a quarter of the two I gave her and she didn't even touch the fruit or the sausage links.
"Oh...alright. I'll um...I'll take care of it." I take the tray and turn to leave when she calls to me. It sounds almost sad.
"I'm sorry...I love you, Babe." Her smile is small and her eyes seem slightly glassy.
Hormones?
The first trimester is usually the worst or them.
"It's alright. I know you're not feeling good. I love you too." I leave the room and take her food to the kitchen- wrapping it up for someone to have later. Going back in, I find her out of bed in the bathroom with the door closed. I can hear her getting sick. Pulling a new shirt on and new boxers- I find my basketball shorts and I knock on the door before entering. "Helen?"
"I'm fi...blaaaah...me." She says as she gets sick again. Tears stinging her eyes and her hair dangling slightly in her face. Going over I hold her hair and rub her back to calm her.
