Chapter four

[ ENGAGEMENT PARTY ]

Lei's POV

" I.D muna bago tumuloy" pag haharang sa akin ng sa tingin ko ay third year student. She's probably one of my senior.

Napabusangot ang mukha ko.

" Sianlei Vista. Part din ako ng team noong highschool "

" ID nga muna kasi. Gosh" she said and rolled her eyes.

I bit my lips as I search it inside my bag. Hanggang pwede ay hindi ko maaring ipakita sa kung sino ang apelyido kong bago. Ma- issue pa yung tatay ko pagagalitan ulit ako.

I hand it over to her. Bago ko pa man masilayan ang reaction niya ay nakita ako ang coah namin. Kinaladkad niya ako papunta sa ibang teammates ko.
Nilingon ko pa ang ID kong hawak ng senior ko na di ko makita ang reksyon.

" She's Sianlei, and she's one of the few first year that we have this year. Yung ibang kasama niya last year or the past years ay lumipat at yung iba, mas pinili na studies ang mas tuunan ng pansin. Be good to her ok? "  Coach Yela tapped my shoulders. Some of my teammates smiled at me. Some ignorred me.

I changed and get ready. Noong lumabas ako ay kaagad akong tinawag ni coach.

" Kayt, Ellain, Euka, this is Sianlei and she will be part of the team. " three pretty ladies are standing infront of me. I actually know Kayt and Ellain already since they are famous in our university plus they won a lot during tournaments. Kayt is a second year while Ellain is on her third year.

Ellain smiled at me. She even shake hands with me. While the other two  choose to ignore me.

" Ell, ikaw na muna bahala ah may aasikasuhin
pa ako. " ika ni coach Yela saka ay umalis.

" So Sianlei, welcome to the team. And by the way this is Euka, a first year like you. " Ellain point at the girl with blue eyes and blond hair. She look foreign.  I mean I look one too but sakanya ay hindi mo makikita ang pagka pilipino. I looked at Kayt. They are kinda look a like.

" And this is Kayt. You probably know both of us I guess? " tumango ako.       
" Oh great! Kayt stop acting with that mean look. Geez " natawa naman si Kayt.

" Im sorry about my rudeness towards you Lei. Oh can I call you that? Whatever. I'll call you
that. " then she smiled.

The girl named Euka loosen up her strict face as I look at her. She was facing at me and avoided my gaze as I try to catch hers.

Ilang minuto pa kaming nag kwentuhan or more like nakipagtanungan bago ko na realize na parte ng relay sina Ellain at Kayt.

Relay is one of the swimming competion that is played by groups. More specifically, by four people. And that is not my field. I'm on the individual always. Gusto ko rin naman mag relay but it's hard for me since Im not good at making friends or Im not that sociable. It needs team work. And im not good at that. I prefer to work alone. I always doubt my self or judge my self na baka ako ang magiging dahilan ng kawalan ng teamwork sakaling sasali ako sa relay.

" But coach hindi po ako sanay sa relay. Lagi po akong na-"

" Why do think you are not winning any single competion in the past few years Sianlei? Dahil nililimitahan mo ang sarili mo. You doubt your skills. Dahil iniisip mong ayos lang na laging nasa top two ka or three. I put you on this kind of team because I want you to soar high Sianlei. You have a potential talent, and skills but you are not using it hundred percent. " coach Yela said to me.

Is this how I really look? How my competition look? Is that what I am doing?

I was left there thinking about my perfornance on the past years.
