It's been months. Months of this unbreakable cycle. Months of misery. Months of constant undying love and support. Months of doctors constantly telling them the same thing, "we're trying our best." Atsumu was sick of it. He wanted to turn back time and end his husband's suffering. He was tired of seeing his husband 's health steadily deteriorating. The blonde had always been a hand on person. When something needed to be fixed, he would not wait for even a second to jump in and fix it. Yet he was helpless and utterly useless in this situation. He was stuck in a cycle where he couldn't do anything to fix. It was like there was an invisible barrier that separates him from his husband. It was the first time he had felt so helpless. So useless. So... depressed. But he kept on pushing. He kept on hammering the barrier. Kept on throwing knives at it. Every attempt, he hoped that it would break the barrier. That he would finally be able to jump in and save his husband from utter misery.
Atsumu was hurt. He was hurt but he never stopped smiling. If Kiyoomi, who was obviously suffering more pain, could still wake up each day and smile at him with sop much happiness and love, why couldn't he? Atsumu didn't understand why or how the raven could still act like nothing was wrong. Like he wasn't knocking on deaths door, waiting for him to open the door. So he asked him. He asked his long time husband for a reason, but in the worst way possible.
Atsumu was in tears. He hated it. He wanted to stop everything. He wanted to stop the spear that sliced through his heart and twisted with every movement. He wanted to pull the spear out and bleed to his death. While he hurt, he was blinded. He couldn't see how much more his husband was hurting. Kiyoomi didn't just have a spear stabbed through his heart. He had his bones broken. He had his life stripped away from him. He had acid crawling through his body, slowly eating away at him from the inside out, corroding the walls of his intestines and organs, eating away at his tissue and tearing at his muscles. But he smiled. He smiled and clung onto the only thing that kept him floating above water. Kiyoomi clung onto their love. Their love that led him through the dark and brightened his days. Sure it hurt all the time. Sure he wanted to give up. Sure he wanted to end it all. But just being able to wake up to his husband was enough to erase the pain, even for just a second. Atsumu was his drug, his pain killer, his life line. So when Atsumu breaks, it breaks Kiyoomi too.
"HOW CAN YOU STILL SMILE LIKE THAT KIYOOMI?HOW CAN YOU ACT LIKE EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT WHEN ITS NOT?! Why cant this all just stop...." Atsumu cried as his features scrunched up, pain and hurt dripped off his frame as agony painted his skin. Kiyoomi could see it all. He could see how much pain his husband was in, how much blood spilled from his deep wounds. He could see the way the spear peaked out of his back, leaving him a bloody mess as he stood there, tears falling in an endless stream down pink cheeks. He could heard the way Atsumu's tear clicked against each other as his jaw trembled. He could feel the anguish pulsing through the blonde's veins. He saw it all, he heard it all, he felt it all, but he didn't say anything. HE couldn't say anything. His throat constricted on itself as he stood up silently, only the soft sniffing echoing through the house. The sunken raven smiled at his husband, love evident in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around the blonde, pulling him close as tucking the shorter male's head under his. Just like that, Atsumu understood. He felt all the unspoken words his husband conveyed through his loving hug. The singer's vision clears and he saw all the blood, wound, scars and most of all, the hole in his back where the burning acid had corroded his husband's body. He understood all his husband's unsaid thoughts and feelings. All he could do was to cling onto the raven tightly, not letting him slip out of reach.
