first your father is Super Man
He's composed and invincible
He's reliable and the kindest
you've ever known

Then you see him angry
for the first time

Now your father is Tarzan
He's tall and brave
he's the strongest man
you've ever known

Then you see him cry
for the first time

Now your father is Thor
He's all thunder and
lightning and missteps
all you've ever known

Then he lets you down
for the millionth time

Now your father is your dad
and he is just a man
He's flawed and selfish
Suddenly you see

He was never those things
you thought he was or
could be
He is just a man
