𝐈 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐓 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐓 to fall asleep. Again and again I turned to the other side, but my thoughts kept wandering to Damiano.

The alcohol in my blood did not make it any easier to fall asleep.

When my eyes finally closed, I could already hear the birds chirping outside. My alarm clock rang far too early and I cursed the whole situation I was in.

Breakfast had just started when our delegation entered the dining room, so it was not particularly crowded.

We sat down at a large round table in one corner of the room and I watched as Elle and Jared went to get food from the buffet.

It felt like someone had drilled a huge hole in my stomach, but I wasn't hungry. The queasy feeling from last night had become a storm raging inside me.

Sophia knew exactly how I felt, but she didn't say anything so as not to make it more difficult. Her sharp eyes watched me closely as I took a sip of my coffee.

Elle and Jared came back to our table and in quick Italian that Elle and the others didn't understand, Sophia whispered, "Let's get something to eat, you need to eat, it's going to be a busy day today." so the others wouldn't notice that I wasn't feeling well.

Reluctantly, I got up and followed my sister to the buffet. Although I was the older of the two of us, it sometimes felt like she was in charge. It was strange.

Without really looking up, I grabbed a plate and walked towards the bread counter, placing a single slice on my plate and hearing the quiet protest of my sister, who immediately wanted to pile more on my plate.

I skilfully ignored them and turned to the next issue.

When my eyes fell on a pair of black Dr. Martens that looked exactly like the ones I was wearing, I looked up.

At the sight of his shoes I had already known who was standing in front of me, yet my heart skipped a beat when I looked into his beautiful face.

He had noticed me too, his dark eyes met mine and I felt transported back to the time when he had belonged to me.

Damiano looked down over my face to my body, then at the tray in my hand and the single slice of bread.

but Coraline doesn't want to eat, no

How ironic it was that he had written that song about me.
