Keith X Reader || Why do you see me?

Chapter 12

"As you know I'm half human and half Galra. My dad met my mom on earth, there she crash landed. Even back then she was part of the Blade of Marmora, fighting against the terror the Galra brought over the universe.
My dad lived alone in a small house, away from the city, and when he heard a spaceship crash he went out to look for it and found my mom. He helped her.. And they fell in love." You see him smile softly and smile as well, looking at the floor.

"Then they had me. But my mom got threatened by the Galra over and over again.. She realized she put my dad and me in danger by staying on earth and decided to leave. She later told me that.. coming to earth was the best thing that could ever happen to her. And that her leaving was the hardest thing to do but she did it because she wanted to protect what she loved the most.. me."

"That's very sweet. Your mom really loves you a lot.. She's very brave for doing that."
You shift your eyes towards Keith, he smiles at you.
"Yeah.. She's very strong.. And cares a lot for those important to her.
When she left she gave my dad a blade she carried and told him to give it to me later on. My dad was really sad.. just like her.

I grew up not knowing my mom. And then a few years later my dad died, he was a firefighter and died in a fire, wanting to protect someone who was still in a burning house. I felt very alone back then.. Not having anyone who cares deeply for me. But that changed quickly, when Shiro took me in. In school and generally I was a quiet kid, not friendly and unhappy. But that didn't stop Shiro from caring for me, he also taught me to fly planes and stood up for the mistakes I made. He didn't give up on me.. That's how I learned to not give up on myself too. I'm so grateful to him.."

"You've already told me about him many times, he seems to be very important to you, and from what you're telling me now I see why." You put a hand on Keith's shoulder. He looks up to you. "Your parents sound like they are great people. They both must be very proud of who you've become. Back in your childhood it must be been very hard for you.. I grew up with my parents with me so I don't know what that would be like. But I know what it's like to lose everyone that cares about you.. And it's very tough. You're very strong for pulling through."
He looks at you, amazed and smiles.
You take your hand from his shoulder as you smile as well.

Keith tells you "You too. I've had help though.. Shiro would help me out whenever he could. As I grew up I remained being the loner, I didn't have friends but I was a lot happier in general, and not as unfriendly to everyone.. Still, I had bad temper and sometimes I would get really angry. I was selfish or reckless as well sometimes, I didn't care a lot about those around me.. All of that changed when I got to be a part of Voltron. I already told you most of that but basically.. I didn't think I could be a leader, working in teams in general just didn't seem like my thing to me at first.. But over time I learned to really care for everyone around me, the paladdins, Allura, Kran and eventually anyone around me.

I realized that while it might be important to be strong on your own, what is even stronger is being strong as a team.
We all became best friends... And still are. I told you how Allura sacrificed herself to save the universe.. I'm forever thankful for her."
"Me too, she was very selfless to do that.." You say.
Keith nods. "I can't wait to see the paladdins again.. And for you to meet them." He says, more excitedly. You smile.

"Also my mom, I really want you to meet her. You've told me how much you'd like to see her. We'll definitely do that." Keith tells you and you ask "How did you meet your mother again after all the years? You told me it had something to do with the wolf and it happened while you were on a mission for the Blade of Marmora, while the other paladdins were working together with Voltron. You only have to tell me if you want to of course."
"I want to tell you." he assures you.

"I remember you telling me you met your wolf on a big whale, one that travels through time. That's where I found mine too. But before that I was supposed to get Krolia, who turned out to be my mom, to help with taking over a weapon. On the mission she used the blade I carried with me..the blade my father gave me telling me it was from my mom. When we escaped from the ship she gave it back to me and I asked her how she was able to use it.

That's when she told me she was my mom. I was surprised and frustrated for her just telling me and not elaborating on it at first. She told me that this wasn't the way she wanted me to find out and that we'll talk about it after the mission. Still frustrated I agreed and after fulfilling the mission our ship crashed and we ended up near this time hole, I almost got sucked in once but my mom saved me.

Jumping from the different meteorites to other ones there were these time flashes.. Because we were there together I got to see how she came to earth.. basically what I told you before.. I realized how deeply she cared for me. That all along I had been loved by my mom even when I felt all alone on earth.. I respect her so much for what she did.

Then this big whale came and my mom told me we should get to it, it would help us travel through the time hole.
We got there and soon I met my wolf. Back then he still was really small, and very cute."
You laugh "He still is though."
Keith smiles "Definitely.

On this whale my mom and I lived for the next two years.. we talked a lot and bonded throughout this time.. A beautiful landscape around us, we even had our own small little fireplace.. I really loved it there. And my mom did too. It helped us both connect again."

"The lands on these whales really are beautiful. Living out there.. it's almost like a holiday. Very relaxing.. apart from the few monsters." you tell Keith as you see him smiling, looking at the floor.
"Right, but that made it a little more exciting. That time was amazing. Afterwards we returned to Voltron and I introduced my mom to the team. She went on with us for some time and helped. Then she returned to building up the Blade of Marmora. They all helped to save the universe. And now she's become a leader of the Galra.

That's.. pretty much it. Phew. That was a lot. But I hope it helps you to know more about who I am." You nod, hearing all that.. You feel like you'll always love to get to know more about Keith. He's such an amazing person.

You tell him "Hearing all this means a lot to me. I love finding out new things about someone.. as amazing as you are.. someone who means a lot to me." He smiles looking at you, you feel yourself blushing and look towards the floor.
"And the fact that exactly you are the first one to see me, to have a wolf just like I do.. Knowing who you are makes me be very grateful for that too."

You smile and look back up at Keith. He looks happy but even if you see it just slightly, something seems to be bothering him as well.
"Is everything ok?" You ask him
"Actually.. I.." He sighs. You look at him worried. "Im very happy that you think of me that way.. but I.. I just can't feel as happy about myself.. I have doubts. I feel like.. I can't always be.. who I want to be." You see it's hard for him to talk about this.. You want to help him.
