Keith X Reader || Why do you see me?

Chapter 24

About two months later

You've been on many more missions by now, some of them even without Keith because you only went with Krolia or Acxa. Krolia taught you a lot and told you many things about Keith's and her past, even if just like Keith, she generally isn't that much of a talker. After spending lots of time together, getting to know each other better you saw many similarities in her and Keith's personality, and you're super glad that the both of you get along very well.
Acxa has become your best friend apart from Keith, she is pretty much the only other person you've spent a lot of time with after all.

Currently you're with Keith again, you both were on a mission helping a big amount of people before and now you're on a smaller mission, just Keith, the wolves, you and two other Blade of Marmora members. To them it's just them, Keith and the wolves though.
You're on a small planet, they called for help because of a few attackers, you're going to protect the inhabitants and capture the ones threatening them.

Keith and you have used the connection through your wolves to find each other and know how the other one's doing multiple times. Right now youre fighting alongside your wolf with one of the attackers, which you all underestimated, they might be few but they're really powerful.
You and Keith have decided to split up to each fight against one of the attackers.

Just as you manage to capture the attacker using a new wind magic technique and turning his own weapon against him, you feel something hurt. It's not you.. You look at your white wolf. It's not him too.. But.. something..

Keith!

You look around quickly to see if there are any other attackers or Keith nearby but you see no one.

Running towards your wolf you tell him "Get me to Keith!" Your wolf comes to you and you put your hand on him concentrating on Keith.. Oh no. You feel a lot of pain. More than you've ever felt before through your wolf .

"Keith where are you? C'mon.. c'mon.." you mumble, desperately wanting to get to him.
Your wolf finally teleports and you land right in front of Keith. Out of instinct you instantly use your air magic. Opening your eyes you see you just dodged the most powerful weapon you've seen on the attackers. It surely would've pierced through you.. and Keith.

You want to look at him but you can't, you're too busy holding off the attacker. You manage to get some distance but then you see other attackers approaching from around you. Keith has been surrounded.. He had to fight all these people.

You just have to know how he's doing.. you've seen him lying on the floor from the corner of your eye. But you don't know if.. if he's awake or not. He definitely is too hurt to fight which you had never seen before, all the other attacks weren't as dangerous as this one.
You have to protect Keith. But you also have to know how he's doing, you think getting more and more stressed.
"C'mon.. c'mon.. I have to.. protect.."

Suddenly you manage to create a big wind wave, blowing all the enemies away.

Seeing they're not in range anymore you quickly turn around kneeling on the floor.
Keith lays there, his eyes closed.
You lift him up in your arms, holding him. "Keith! Keith! Can you hear me?" You take your hand and put it on his cheek.. his face is bruised badly.

Oh no.. Please..
Then he coughs, you intensely stare at him "Keith! How do you feel?"
"You came.. You saved me.. huh?" He says smiling weakly only lifting his eyes half.. He contorts his face in pain.

"Keith, please tell me how you feel."
"I'm.. pretty weak.. everything hurts.. but I'll live. Those guys.. they're strong."
You're still not relieved. Keith looks.. like he's in really bad shape.
You look up and see the attackers approaching again.. They're surrounding you and your wolves. They already tried to hold them off but are wounded. Unable to teleport you. Desperate you look around. No.. no.. this can't end here.

You create a wind blowing around you, trying to hold them off but your powers..they're getting weaker, it's not working. You look at Keith.. he has closed his eyes again.. no.
You put your forehead against his.

Then you hear him whisper "We'll.. make it."

Yeah, you think to yourself, we have to make it.. there's no other way. You promised to protect each other. No matter what. There is so much you still have to do..

The attackers are getting closer..
"This can't end here.. I won't let you die. You're.. too important." You say, feeling your powers grow again.

Then, using all your strength you create a big tornado which bursts out around you. You look up shocked. The attackers.. They're all caught up in it, twirling in the sky.

You turn to see Keith. He has his eyes closed. "Keith!" You shout, thinking why.. why is he not responding? "Look I just unlocked a new wind magic technique! They're trapped! We're.. safe!" You feel tears forming in your eyes.. Keith's eyes still aren't opening. He was awake just a minute ago..

You hug him tightly. "Keith.. come back.. We're safe. We still have so much to do. Do you hear me?"

You hear Keith's voice "You just.. unlocked a new ability to save me?"
You pull away from him, looking into his eyes, he smiles weakly.
"Of course. I'd do anything to save you." you say, smiling at him, tears falling down from your face.

The tornado around you still is stable.. You feel like that power must've come from protecting the person you love the most.
"I'm just fulfilling our promise." You tell Keith.
"Thank you." He says.
Then you hear the sounds of the traps you brought to capture the attackers. The other two Galra soldier you're on this mission with appear. You stop the tornado.

Relieved you tell Keith "Looks like they made it. We'll get you fixed up Keith. We'll all be fine."
"I'm so glad.. You're like my guardian angel you know?"
"Because I'm invisible to everyone else?" you ask him smiling.
"Yeah I guess.. but especially because you saved my life.. multiple times."
"Just returning the favour. You've saved me lots of times as well."
"How many times do you think we'll have to save each other.."
"However many times it'll take." You tell him smiling.
"Fulfilling our promise, huh?" Keith says and you nod.

Your wolves then approach you followed by the Galra soldiers. You pet the wolves.
"I'm so glad you're both safe.. we have to thank both of you for saving our lives many times as well.." They both seem proud and get to Keith.
"Yeah you guys.. You've helped us so much. We're all such an awesome team."

The Galra soldiers approach and you let the wolves lift up Keith in the position you just held him to not raise any suspicion. You stand up looking down at Keith, he has lots of wounds.. but he'll be okay. After all he already seems to have recovered a little after being out during the battle.

"Keith, are you okay?" One of the soldiers ask.
"We've captures all of them, the mission was successul, even if we had some problems, the enemies were far more dangerous than we thought." the other soldier says.
Phew, so good to hear that those really were all of them, you think.

"I'll.. need some help getting back to the ship I've got some wounds.. but I'll be okay, just lots of recovery will be the right thing for me."
The soldiers nod and take him with them, one of them saying "You fought a lot of them, sorry we couldn't help you earlier.."
Keith replies "Don't worry about it I'm okay now.. besides" he looks towards you, you're quietly walking beside the soldiers who carry Keith.
"I had some help.." he smiles at you.

"But even your wolves seem hurt, so we'll have to get all of you fixed up." one of the soldiers say
"Yeah.. thank you guys. We saved a lot of people today."
With that you all go to the spaceship, there the soldiers tell the inhabitants they've successfully captured the attackers, that the city is safe now.

Meanwhile you remain with Keith in his room, throughout his recovery you stay by his side, talking and just relaxing.
You also train a little on your own, trying to figure out ways to use the new tornado ability you unlocked by saving the one you love.
