Keith X Reader || Why do you see me?

Chapter 23

The evening on the next day

Yesterday Krolia arrived here on Alteya and today sadly is the last full day you and Keith are going to spend here. Tomorrow you'll have to leave for another mission, this time Krolia will come with you and Keith though and you can't wait to train and fulfill the mission beside her.

For the evening you all planned to hold a little memorial ceremony for Allura, many lights are set up all around her statue, and some flowery decorations as well.

The ceremony is held, the paladdins give short speeches. After they finish you get the idea to make the flowers and lights twirl around the statue to create a beautiful little show in honour of Allura.
While you do this the paladdins tell Keith that after having spent some time with you and seeing how much effort you put in this show they think you're awesome and amazing.

After the ceremony the paladdins tell you that what you did was beautiful and brought a lot of happiness to them and all the Alteyans watching. You're very flattered as Krolia also tells you that it was remarkable. She wishes everyone could thank you and tells you how important it is to her that you'll figure out what happened to you and all Skydiras.

They all leave and you're left alone with Keith who had been quiet for all this time.
He stares at you and you ask "Uhm.. is everything okay?" he then says "I.. After seeing how good you get along with everyone.. after seeing you do this beautiful show.. It just makes me realize how beautiful you are.. inside and out. I'm just incredibly thankful for you being the amazing person you are and for doing things like these, making so many others happy."

You hug him and for a while you just stand there until an Alteyan comes up to you who looks confused as he sees Keith hugging air. "Come on, let's go somewhere else, I think that person saw me.. but not you so he saw me hugging.. air." Keith tells you quietly, a little embarrassed. You laugh "Well.. that must have looked weird, sorry for just hugging you like that but when you.. say kind things like that I just really want to do that"."

"I understand, the same goes for me.. Besides I like hugging you anytime." He says smiling softly at you.
Then a shooting star flies by. You both look up at the statue of Allura as it passes by.
"Hey, let's look at the stars ok?" Keith asks you. You nod and he takes your hand. After walking for a little you both sit in the grass, away from other people.

You lean against a tree and hold Keith in front of you in your arms, his back against you. You both look at the stars. He asks you "After these few days.. you've really become good friends with everyone.. I'm so glad about that. So what do you think about the paladdins and my mom now overall?"

You tell him "They're even more amazing then I thought they would be. And everyone of them has their own strengths you can talk to them about all kinds of different things, they all are very kind."
Keith tells you "I'm amazed by how you're always able to see the good in everything.. in everyone. You don't lose hope. That's something that makes you amazing to me."

You carefully run one of your hands through his fluffy hair..
"You know.. that's something that you helped me to learn.. On our missions you're always the one who doesn't give up. You're the one who helped me with not giving up on looking for answers about my past.. You give me a lot of the hope I have."

After a while you notice beautiful flowers in the field on your side.
You remember the braid Keith made you once.. And the flowery braid.
"Hey Keith, I'll get something ok? So I'll have to let you go for a short time." You tell him still holding him in front of you, while leaning against the tree behind you.
"Alright, but you'll be right back?" He asks. You give him a kiss on his cheek. "I'll be."

Then you stand up to get some flowers, Keith moves to lean against the tree.
After you're done you head back and tell Keith "I was thinking.. that maybe you could braid my hair again? And we could bring back the flowery braid."

He looks up to you, you standing in front of him holding the flowers. For a while he just stares at you before smiling and saying
"I'd love that. Come here."
You sit down in front of him and he takes the flowers out of your hand but you keep two in yours "They're for you.." You hear him chuckle.

Keith tells you "You know those flowers are really pretty.. Like you." That's exactly what you said back to him on that planet.. "Thank you, you're very pretty too." you answer him.. telling him exactly what he told you back then.
You both laugh quietly.

Then you feel him starting to braid your hair, and also putting flowers into it. You both stay quiet, enjoying each others presence. You look at the stars. Then you see both your wolves running around together. They glow in the dark "Look, they're having fun!" You tell Keith pointing at them. "Just like us." he says "There, I'm done with the braid and.. it might be even better than last time!" You put the braid in front of you, it really is super beautiful.. "Wow.. It looks amazing! Thank you so much!"

He laughs and you look back at him, putting the two flowers you had left in your hand in his hair.
"You know, I wouldn't mind doing this regularly, just checking up on each other.. me braiding your hair.. it puts me in such a great mood." Keith says. Then you tell him "Me too.. I become thankful for everything great that's happened to me. Especially you."
He smiles.

Then he leans forward while gently taking your cheeks in his hands, he kisses your forehead. He's.. so dreamy.
You smile at him.
"You know, someday you could get really good at braiding people's hair, maybe you could even do that on our missions, I bet having a braid made by one of the paladdins of Voltron would make some people very happy!" you tell Keith.

He smiles "Then there's one more reason for me to braid your hair regularly, to practice." You both laugh. Then you turn around and lean with your back against him, you feel him wrapping his arms around you.

Same position as before you picked up the flowers.. just the other way around, you think to yourself. Just him holding you.. or you holding him.
Just being beside each other. It feels so comfortable. So safe. You smile..

You feel yourself drifting off to sleep.
"Hey Keith we can just.. sleep here like this right? This is really comfortable.." you ask Keith who quietly replies "Yeah.. this is even better than my bed."
"Good night then and ..I love you." you tell him.
"I love you too, good night." Is the last thing you hear Keith say before you feel yourself drifting off to sleep.

The next day you and Keith both wake up from Pidge, Lance and Hunk taking a picture of you, which Keith gets a little mad about but it's kinda cute to you and also pretty funny. After saying your goodbyes, planning to meet up in a year or two again, and maybe visiting each other in between you, your wolves, Keith and Krolia head to the ship Krolia landed on the Alteya with. You plan to go on a mission together and leave this beautiful planet, still carrying a small part of it with you in the flowers in your braid.
