Y/N was standing in front of the room. She thought she was ready for pretty much anything, but she was wrong. She hadn't been ready for this. How had Shouta even slept in there for one single night? That place was dirty as hell. This would be so much work and Y/N was almost sure that she wasn't going to get this done before it was time to get to bed for work tomorrow.
She wasn't sure what she was expecting. Well, it would probably be for the best if she got to work as soon as possible. There was no point standing around and hoping that the place would tidy itself up at some point. She had to do it by herself. Tonight. There was no way around it.
"I know it looks pretty bad... I didn't really have the time to clean those two rooms. And I didn't really need to do it either." Shouta said to her, rubbing the back of his neck. Y/N took a deep breath.
"It's fine. It probably looks worse than it is. I just hope I'll manage to get it somewhat livable before it's time to get to bed." Y/N replied. She was honestly grateful that Shouta was giving her a place to stay, so she absolutely wasn't complaining. It was just all happening so sudden.
And it only solved a small part of Y/N's problems. Well, actually it solved pretty much all the problems she had at the moment. But it didn't really help with anything else. Sure, she'd have a place to live and that was one thing off her mind. But everything else was still there - the way she lost her job, that one long-term relationship that was broken up so suddenly, her parents' death, the way she was living in this city and how she had no one, those two years living with her aunt and uncle.
Y/N shuddered thinking back to that. It wasn't even that bad, the two of them were really nice to her. Y/N wasn't lacking anything and they were never rude to her. They treated her as if she was their own daughter and Y/N had to admit that she was incredibly difficult around that time. But... no, no, no. There was no point thinking about it now. She had a job to do right now.
"Do you need anything? I can help you, too, if you want. I just honestly wouldn't even know where to start." Shouta replied. Y/N turned around with a smile on her face. They'd have to get all the clutter out of there first.
"I'm going to need a vacuum. And probably a duster. A broom, too, if you have one. And we'll probably have to air out that futon. But a broom, vacuum and duster should be fine for now and I'll take care of the rest." Y/N told him. Shouta nodded and walked along the hallway to the utility closet.
In the meantime Y/N took a look at the room. There were a few cobwebs in the corners and the furniture was absolutely dusty. Other than that everything seemed in pretty good condition. It would probably do to dust the furniture, maybe wipe it with a cloth if necessary, but she could always do that later.
It wasn't like she'd need a lot of space in there. She only had about 3 boxes with things, because she had given away so much. All she had were a few office outfits, two yukata and one formal furisode kimono that she had kept from her mother's things. She kind of wished she had kept more of them now, since she was working here, but it was too late. There might still be some at her aunt's house... but Y/N wasn't sure if she wanted to go back there. If she did, she didn't want to go alone.
