Hanabusa showed up to my door. When he saw me, his eyes changed for a moment. Like like a vampire, but like a child who just saw a woman for the first time. He stumbled back and dropped a marble he was holding. I picked it up and put it into his hand. "You've dropped this."

"You... you clean up nice."

"Yes, it's been a while since I've had to dress like this. I hope this was enough. If not, I can change."

He nearly fell again. "No, no! That's just fine! You look lovely. It looks like you could fit right in with Lord Kaname. You almost look similar to Lord Kaname."

"I'm glad you think so. I tried really hard to look like I fit in with the rich and famous. I hope I can do you decency during this time we'll be stuck together. I'm just sorry you had to be stuck with me..."

"Are you feeling sorry for me?"

"I am."

He grabbed my hand and kissed it. "It's alright. I think I'll be able to deal with it for a night. Akatsuki spoke with me before I came and asked me to take good care of you for him. You really mean something to him."

"Thank you for saying that."

Hanabusa was a gentleman. I was surprised. He always all for Kaname. He rarely spoke about anything else, but even when people came over to ask him, he introduced me as Erika, and lord Kaname suggested me to him himself. He seemed almost proud to have me with him, and danced with me for hours on end. He even seemed to smile. He took me outside for a bit and spoke in a soft voice so nobody else could hear.

"I'm surprised nobody has picked up that you're human yet. I thought the smell would have done you in."

"Have I ever smelled like a human to you?"

"What does that mean? Of course you do, you're a human."

I turned to him. "You haven't really gotten a good look at me, have you? Of course not, you're too focused on Kaname. I can see why. When you truly love someone, it's hard to pay attention to someone else."

"You know?"

"Hanabusa, I've known you for a long time, of course I know."

"Know me?"

"Oh, right, you wouldn't remember. I'm sorry."

Kaname had everyone introducing their daughters to him, and for the first time, he accepted. At least, that's what Hanabusa told me. My stomach was in knots. I wasn't sure if I should continue on talking with Hanabusa, or if I should go over and act like a part of the crowd.

"Could I steal your date?"

Hanabusa jumped. "Hey! You took Ruka! Leave us alone!"

"Don't worry, Hanabusa, I'll be back soon. He won't be stealing me for long. He's only going to introduce me to Kaname. We haven't formally been introduced yet. When I'm done, I'll come back and talk more. I have to admit, I enjoyed spending time with you more than I thought I would. It's good to finally get to know you."

"Bring her back in one piece, okay, Akatsuki?"

"I won't make any promises."

I was taken off to meet Kaname. The room nearly cleared when I came through. I bowed to Kaname, and he bowed back. I was a little taken back by how he bowed to me as well. He hadnt done that with anyone else, until I remembered who I was.

"Lady Erika." He smiled to me. "I'm pleased to see you came. How are you enjoying the party?"

"Quite well. The date you gave me isn't too bad either. I'm quite enjoying myself tonight. It was good to get out."
