We get there after a long drive of silence. Kamrin grabs a crowbar that she found, Toby and I grab our guns, Marcus grabs my baseball bat from the back seat, and Mason stands watch by the front entrance of the house.
We were finally going to catch Stephanie's murderer and have all this chaos be over and done with.
Kamrin knocks on the door and Ronnie opens it.
"Hey, your back already? Why do you h-" Ronnie starts to say as Kamrin sucker punches him in the face.
"You asshole! You were sooo worried about protecting me when you were the killer the WHOLE TIME!!! We're done. I'm done with you and I don't want you fucking near me or Lily or Marcus or anyone for that matter! You belong rotting in a cell."
"I was never going to hurt you Kamrin." Ronnie says, stumbling to his feet. "I just wanted Stephanie gone after what she did to our relationship and for all the fucking crap she put my through. I HATED her and she took you away from me! She deserved it."
"She may have deserved what she got but you had no right to try and hurt Lily. The police will come any minute now and will lock you up in a dark, cold, cell."
Kamrin walks away from him and Ronnie pulls out his gun and aims it right at Marcus. He fires and the bullet skims Marcus' arm. Marcus falls back a bit and winces in pain.
"NO!" Kamrin shouts as she goes to try and help Marcus.
"It's clear that all of your feeling for me are gone. So, I'm going to shoot Marcus over here again in the chest next time if you don't tell the police to turn around and get back to the damn station." Ronnie says. "It's obvious that you care about Marcus, Kamrin. So, what are you going to do?"
Kamrin freezes in her tracks as she looks at Marcus with fear in her eyes. I slowly back away from the living room and try to find a place to hide from the others.
If I find a hiding spot I could easily peek out from. I could shoot Ronnie's arm and get everyone out safely.
I find a corner that looks into the living room. I crouch down and peek around the corner.
I have a perfect shot.
I aim carefully at Ronnie's arm that has the gun then.
BANG!
The gun falls out of Ronnie arm and he grabs his wounded arm with his other hand. I grab Ronnie's gun along with mine and everyone immediately runs out the door.
***
I lock the door on my way out of the house. Everyone stands by the cars and waits for the police to arrive. Kamrin walks over to Marcus to make sure his arm is doing alright.
"Did the police say when they're going to get here?" I ask Mason.
"They didn't say specifically." Mason replies. "They just said they would get here as soon as they could."
"Okay what do we do with Ronnie until they get here?" Kamrin asks. "Toby isn't gonna get away with anything either. You're probably going to get locked up right along with him, Toby."
"Possibly, but he might be able to say that Ronnie blackmailed him into doing his dirty work. You might have to do some form of community service though." I explained.
***
The police arrive and Detective Anderson and Detective Andrews get out of the police cars to investigate the crime scene.
"Where's the killer???" Detective Anderson asks enthusiastically.
"He's in the house." I say.
Detective Anderson goes into the house to search for Ronnie while Detective Andrews confiscates the murder weapons that were used. Nobody has said anything about Toby and how he was associated with the murders. But, at the same time there were a lot of things we didn't tell the police and I don't think we ever will because then we would all be behind bars.
Everyone gets questioned about what happened and everyone makes sure to tell the exact same story so that we don't look suspicious.
Especially Toby.
***
Detective Anderson comes out of the house and Ronnie isn't in sight.
"Where is Ronnie at?" I ask.
"He wasn't in the house." Detective Anderson says. "Are you positive he was in the house???"
"I'm positive, I even locked the door to make sure he didn't get out." I replied.
"Well, you must have forgotten to lock the back door because there's a trail of blood that leads out the back door and then some footprints leading into the forest." Detective Anderson explains. "I think we should just leave him out there. He's wounded, has no weapons, and if he doesn't bleed to death some animal might eat him."
"I'll just leave a wanted poster up for his arrest if someone does find him." Detective Andrews concludes.
After that, Marcus, Kamrin, and I are rushed to the hospital. Donna, Mason, and Toby go back to Mason's house to wait for Marcus',Kamrin's, and my results because the rest of our houses are crime scenes.
***
Everything eventually goes back to the way it was. We'll sort of. Even though nobody has found Ronnie. The police and everybody else assumed he was dead. So, his wanted posters were removed and the police closed Stephanie's case. For what they thought would be the last time.
The End.........Ronnie's still alive....
