You understand... right?

Jennifer's P.O.V.

I came back to the house. The kids and Alex weren't home yet, thankfully... I need to prepare what I am going to say to Alex... I can't go on with my life without telling him...

I quickly got changed into some leggings and put on one of Alex's shirts. I walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Lady, Emme's dog, was just staring at me. I looked at her.

"What is it miss Lady?" I caressed her fur and she licked my hand then went to go lay in her bed.

She watched me as I went to go make myself some tea. I called Leah while I was waiting.

"Hey girl! Did you get some dick?"

"LEAH. Oh my god no. It was such a mess.... I kissed Ben. Well he kissed me. But it wasn't supposed to happen but it did and I regret it kind of but not really but I just feel so guilty."

"You shouldn't feel guilty. You went out and had some fun. It was a harmless kiss."

"No... But for me... It meant something and it shouldn't have because I am engaged Lee... What the hell am I supposed to do now??

"Does Ben know that there was a meaning to it...?"

"Well about that.... I snapped at him... Because he took advantage of me for kissing me and I may have said some rude things because I was caught off guard...."

"Jennifer... You did not..."

"I did.... I feel bad but not really but oh my god.... The relief of holding in the pain of him trying to get at me when he was the one who ruined our relationship because he cheated on me... It felt good to say what I needed to say..."

"Alright... Well what about Alex? How are you going to tell him?"

"That... I really have no clue because I am just in shock of what I did but then again he's done me so wrong many times... But has changed."

"Well... That's true in a way but Jen. You have feelings for both men."

"Ugh I know."

"I gotta go, And is coming and I don't want him knowing. Just let me know how it goes. Love you."

"Love you too..."

I hung up and sighed softly.

I finished making my tea and went outside to go sit in the backyard and watch the stars. Lady sat beside me on the couch and fell asleep.

Half an hour later, Alex came back with the kids and he went straight to the backyard. He sneaked up behind me and kissed the back of my neck.

"Hey handsome..."

"Hey, how was dinner with Leah?"

"It was great... Actually... we talked a lot.."

"About?"

"Just girl stuff..."

"Jennifer... is there something going on..? I know you too well. You may be a damn good actress but somethings up. Are you okay..?"

"I went out with Ben. I lied."

Alex just stared at me and looked away. He nodded softly and looked at me.

"Okay.. that's fine..."

"What do you mean..?"
I looked at Alex and gulped. He never is this calm... what is he gonna say next??

"Okay. That's fine... I went out with Jess the other day. When I told you about what happened. But you went behind my back. I'm not mad, just disappointed. We're equal. Besides, I won't stop you from having guy friends. I know you're friends with your exes. I trust you. I genuinely do. And if something happens, just tell me. That's all I ask. Promise?"

"I promise..."

Alex had tears in his eyes. He looked away and wiped his eyes then looked back at me.

I nodded and walked away to the room. The rest of the night was silent but not awkward between us. We were normal around the kids, talking as if nothing happened.
