Everything was going great with Jennifer and Alex's relationship until their relationship was put to the test...
Jennifer's P.O.V.
"Papi!" I called Alex from my office.
"Coming my love!" Alex said and ran to me.
"I.. Um.. I am afraid to say that I have bad news and good news..." I said softly and looked up at him.
Alex sighed and sat across from me and crossed his arms. "What's the bad news...?" Alex asked.
"I just got off the phone and I just found out that I will have to be gone for a month... Away from you and the kids..." I said and sighed softly.
"What's the good news...?" Alex asked.
"The good news is that if all goes well... Then I will be able to come back early..." I said softly and started to tear up.
"Why exactly do you have to leave...?" Alex asked and leaned in a bit.
"I have to leave because I have to do something... I cannot say what... But eventually, I will say later.." I said and gulped softly as I wiped my tears away.
"Baby... Why can't you just say...?" Alex asked again and reached over and held my hand.
"It's confidential and I have to deal with it on my own..." I said softly.
Alex nodded softly and did not ask again. He got up and walked around my desk then hugged me from behind and kissed my head. I tried not to cry more... It hurt me the most to not let Alex know what was going on and that I had to take care of things on my own without him or the kids...
I left the office and tried my best not to cry. I walked into my room and closed the door behind me and called Leah while crying.
"Hey, baby, what's up?"
"I have to tell him but I don't want to scare him or the kids... It hurts Lee... It really hurts... I know I should tell him but I don't know how to..." I said while crying.
"Woah Woah Woah... Okay, hold on... I know you wanted to tell Alex, but you cannot tell him... He will be devastated and so will the kids... You need to relax and hold it together until I go pick you up... Okay?" Leah said reassuringly.
"Okay... Just come soon... Please..." I said while crying more.
"I will. I love you, baby, see you in 30 minutes." Leah said.
"Okay... Bye Lee... I love you too." I said before hanging up.
I quickly got undressed and took a shower... But it made things worse... I started to overthink which caused me to cry more. Once I finished my shower, I dried off and tried to stop crying. I got dressed and packed a big suitcase of comfy clothes along with a few pairs of sneakers and some slides.
30 minutes later...
The doorbell rings and I go downstairs with my suitcase and say bye to the kids.
"Mommy... How long will you be gone for...?" Emme asked nervously.
"A month... maybe longer but I will be back... I promise..." I said and kissed her head.
"Why such short notice...? Why couldn't you have told us in advance...?" Natasha asked.
"Because it was a last-minute decision... And everything will be better by the time I come back.." I said softly and hugged her tight.
Max tried not to cry, he is mommy's little baby. He hates it when I leave for a long time...
I sighed and kissed his head. "I'll be gone for a little bit... Not forever... I promise..." I said to Max and kissed his head and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his arms around me tightly and broke down crying.
"Don't cry papi... You can text me whenever." I said as he nodded softly. I hugged Elias and Ivan and placed kisses on their foreheads.
I then got to Alex and looked at him. "I am trusting you with our kids... Please take care of them... The nanny will be here with you as well. She will step in when needed, so be nice to her and be good..." I said as I looked up at him.
"Okay... I love you so much Jen.." Alex said as he hugged me tight and kissed my head.
"I love you too." I said as I hugged him back.
Leah was here and was waiting for me outside. I said one final goodbye to the kids and Alex then left to Leah's car with my suitcase and put it in the trunk then got in the passenger seat.
"You ready baby?" Leah asked. I looked over at her upset and nodded softly. She drove off and drove us to the airport...
