"allie?"
i furrowed my brow and pushed my head further into the pillow.
"allie?"
"hm?" i mumbled.
"do you have any food allergies?"
i hugged the pillow tighter. "did you wake me up-" i yawned. "-just to ask me that?" i was still half asleep. am i even awake? maybe this is a dream.
there was no response, so just i shook my head.
"great. also, do you eat breakfast with orange juice or milk?"
i groaned, still sleep-locked. "go... away..."
i felt a weight on the bed vanish, and i snuggled further into the pillow i was holding, a sigh of contentment escaping my lips as i slipped back into a peaceful, uninterrupted, sleep.
***
"time to wake up, babygirl," a soft voice cooed above me. a hand brushed my hand away from my face.
i shoved my face under the pillow. "go 'way,"
a chuckle. "nope, c'mon, bunny. you've been asleep a long time, and now you have to get up,"
i huffed in annoyance, but sat up nonetheless.
"happy?" i said.
billie smiled and reached out with a hand to ruffle my hair even more than it already was. "you look adorable,"
i swatted her hand away and made an attempt to fix my hair. "shut up,"
last night she'd made me watch the entire first season of 'the office', with only short snack or bathroom breaks in between episodes. i hadn't ended up falling asleep until two in the morning.
she laughed again. "awww, is my baby tired?" she fake pouted.
i glared at her. "i'm not a baby, and i'm certainly not your baby,"
she smiled. "one day, though,"
i couldn't really argue with that.
"oh, i made you breakfast, too. i was gonna bring it up here but you never told me if you drank orange juice or milk in the morning..." she trailed off, looking at me expectantly.
i furrowed my brow. "that was real?"
she let out a breathy laugh. "yep. so, orange juice or milk?"
"uh... water?"
she widened her eyes at me. "are you saying that you've never had orange juice at breakfast? dude, it's so good! especially ours 'cause my mom gets tons of oranges from a relative so she bought a juicer and made her own. it's just straight oranges, but it's so good. no added sugar, or anything. imma getchu a glass," and with that, she was gone.
i stared after her for a moment, then shifted my attention to my hands.
billie was a lot different then everybody at school made her out to be.
just then, she came back in the room, a tray in her hand with two plates of waffles and glasses of orange juice.
she set it down and beamed at me.
"wow," i said. "who would've thought the billie eilish was this soft? i mean, damn, i sure didn't," i teased.
and immediately regretted.
her eyes darkened. "say that again,"
my throat felt dry, but i complied. "you're soft,"
her hand came up to my neck and she gripped it lightly.
"i am not soft. ever say that again and i might have to punish you," i could tell from the tone of her voice that she was at least partly joking, but i didn't want to test it.
"i'm sorry," i whispered. she nodded, and her hand dropped to my collarbone, brushing it gently. her facial expression had changed immensely, a moment before it had been hard and cold, and now it was fondly amused.
this bitch is crazy.
559 words, unchecked.
despite being hella short, i like this chapter.
