"billie, we're home!"
billie groaned at the sound of the deep voice coming from the entry room.
i scooted off her lap quickly, and she gave me a disappointed look.
"that's my brother, he was out with my parents and his girlfriend," she explained.
i looked down, then back up, unsure of what to say.
billie watched me for a moment, her head tilted slightly to the side. "come on, i want you to meet them," she said suddenly, standing up and holding her hand out to me.
i took it and she pulled me up, then went to wrap her arm around my waist. i blushed and pushed her away.
she frowned, then tried to pull me back into her.
i pushed her away again and shook my head. "not in front of anyone,"
she huffed. "why not? you literally just sat on my lap for almost two hours, you might as well be my girlfriend already,"
"cuddling doesn't mean you're together, billie. it was nice, but i'm not ready for that yet. i only just met you," i said, gently but firm.
she sighed and gave in, leading me out of her room, through the hallway, and to the dining room where her family was.
"hey bil. whose this?" a red-haired man asked.
"hi, finn. this is allie," she replied. i could hear a bit of smugness in her voice, which confused me.
his eyes widened, but before me could speak two more people came in, these ones older, a man and a woman.
"this is your soulmate, billie?" the woman said excitedly. she must have heard billies' words.
billie nodded, and the brown-haired woman immediately started talking. fast.
"oh my gosh! it's so good to meet you, alaska! billies' been talking about you ever since your name showed up on her wrist. you have to stay for supper! i'm maggie, by the way," she walked over and shook my hand.
"uh, okay, sure. it's nice to meet you, too, maggie." i stammered, returning the handshake hesitantly.
"i'm patrick," the man came forward and shook my hand as well. i was feeling a little overwhelmed my maggie, so his quiet and reassuring disposition was nice.
"finneas," the red-haired man smiled at me, but didn't come closer. "are you two together yet? like, girlfriend and girlfriend?"
i shook my head, and i saw his lips press together, but he didn't say anything else. i thought he seemed displeased.
"oh right, that reminds me. billie, my parents wanna meet you tomorrow, they asked for you to come over for supper at six-thirty," i said, turning back to her.
a grin came over her face. "sure,"
relieved, i let loose a small smile of my own before turning back to her family.
maggie had her back turned to us in the kitchen, patrick was no where to be found, and finneas was watching us with fond amusement in his eyes.
"i think mom has supper almost ready... you can come take a seat, if you like," he said, waving me to the table with a friendly smile.
billie took my hand again and dragged me into a chair, then sat down next to me.
her arm snaked around my waist. i tried to swat her away, but she tightened her grip, and i understood that she wasn't going to let go unless i was particularly resistant.
giving in with a sigh, i glanced out one of the windows. it was still pouring.
gee, great.
530 words, unchecked.
sorry it's so short :(
