posting this now cuz i won't be around til later tomorrow, so enjoy.
she just stared at me for a minute, the little half-smile never leaving her face.
finally, she tilted her head down slightly to bring her sunglasses on top of her head.
i saw her bite her lip as she looked at me again.
"how's your day been, pretty mama?" she questioned, looking up at me partly through her lashes.
"um, normal, i guess?" it ended up sounding more like a question. embarrassed, i looked down at my lap, fiddling with my own fingers.
she hummed. "can i ask you some questions?"
i blinked back up at her, brow furrowed in confusion. "like, what kind of questions do you mean?"
she chuckled, resting her elbow on the table and her chin on her hand. "i just wanna get to know you better," she explained.
i bit my tongue, then shrugged. "okay, sure,"
she smiled again. "what's your favorite color?" she started off simple.
"dark blue. really dark blue, almost black. i like green, too, though," i responded, feeling myself relax a bit.
she hummed again. "what about food?"
"cliché, but pizza, specifically hawaiian pizza. as a snack, though, definitely fries. especially from a&w," i felt my mouth water at the thought, i was hungry enough as is.
her eyes narrowed slightly, but not in an angry way. "what do you usually get there?"
"mozza burger combo with lemonade,"
she looked down at the menu in front of her. "i can't eat that, 'cause i'm vegan, but they've got pretty good vegan pizza here... wanna try?"
i smiled a little. "sure,"
she smiled back and lifting her head off her hand. "lemonade is my favorite drink, too. i could drink it anytime, warm or cold," she laughed.
i laughed with her. "so could i,"
she continued asking me little questions, favorite movie, tv show, music artist, hobbies, and such.
suddenly, she paused, a mischievous grin making its way onto her face. "what's your first kiss story?"
i pouted a bit. "i haven't had it yet,"
her jaw went slack. "for real?"
i nodded, a light blush dusting my cheeks. she sat back, leaning against her seat. there was a small v between her eyes, i couldn't tell exactly what she was thinking, but it she seemed slightly disappointed.
just then, the waitress came back, asking for our order. billie told her- we'd decided a minute ago- but she barely even glanced at her.
once she'd left again, billie swept her tongue over her lips. "i wanna take you on a walk after this, sound good?"
***
she took my hand as we started on the path, causing the usual blush from me. i let my hair fall over my face a little so she couldn't see it.
she didn't speak, just led me forward. i noticed she'd put on an extra hoodie and wondered if she was cold, it was still warm and light out.
we walked on the little trail for a few minutes. there were trees ahead of us; i could see that the path led through them, but everywhere else around us was rolling plains hills.
the path was just wide enough for us to walk side by side. just before we reached the trees, billie spoke.
"there's something important i have to tell you," she said quietly.
i looked up at her for a moment. "okay,"
she glanced at me, biting her lip. "you know about werewolves and shit, right? the war between them and the... the witches?"
i shook my head, confused. "no, but i know that werewolves went extinct in 2014, and that human hunters were the cause of it,"
she sighed. "what if werewolves weren't extinct? what if they were hiding, not from hunters, but from witches?"
"what do you mean, billie?" my voice came out sharper than intended.
she stopped suddenly and stared deep into my eyes. i was startled by the intensity in her light blue gaze. "not all witches have green eyes, al,"
i blinked, uncomprehending. "wh-what do you mean?" i repeated.
she took a deep breath, closing her eyes briefly. when they opened again, her eyes were gentler.
she spoke in a soft whisper, and her words shocked me to my core.
"i'm a witch, too, allie,"
689 words, unchecked.
15+ votes for the next chapter (and i really do mean it this time xD)
