Chapter twenty-three

(The next day)
I woke up to a bright beautiful morning. Which was the opposite of what i was feeling. How could everything go down like that? It all just didn't make sense. I laid in my bed, when all of a sudden, i hear three knocks at the door,"Come in." I said with a raspy voice. The door slowly creeks open, revealing Mike. I didn't really know what to say. His eyes looked a little puffy, but then again he was crying the other day,"What's up?" I asked,"Um...i was wondering, if you had any more conditioner left?" Asked Mike. I gave him a confused look. He still stood there lost in his thoughts,"Let me see." I said getting up and going to my bathroom. i went to my shower and grabbed what was left of my conditioner. i came back to see Mike lost in his thoughts looking down at the ground,"Okay, what's up?" i asked getting annoyed of his silence,"Nothing." said Mike with no emotion,"Mike, i've known you for all of my life, i know something's wrong." i said. it was silent,"Who was that girl you were arguing with yesteday?" i asked. mike looked at me. he looked like he had just seen a ghost,"You had practice yesterday, didn't you." said Mike. i nodd my head. Mike sighs, putting his hands in the pockets of his sweat pants,"She's or was, my girlfriend." said Mike,"What's her name?" i asked making sure he wasn't lieing,"Jamie." said Mike,"What happened?" i asked. Mike sighs and sits in the seat that was right next to him,"Cleo was saying all of this crap, saying that i was a player, and that i cheated on her, then Cleo came to talk with me, and she tried something on me, but nothing happened, but Jamie didn't believe me." said Mike,"I'm so sorry Mike." i said hugging him,"I'm in love with her." said Mike muffling into my back. i could feel his tears go into my back and soak my shirt that i had on. after a few minutes of hugging. we pulled away,"Maybe you shuld try and talk to her, tell her how you feel, and how much you love her." i said. Mike nodds his head then hugs me again,"Thanks Maddie, for being there for me." said Mike muffling into my shoulder,"Your welcome." i said then he pulls away and leaves to get ready for school.

i went to my walk in closet and pick out a cute yet lazy out fit. Grey sweat pants, a black long sleeve, some white converse, and left my hair down. i went to try and find some sweat pants for gym. as i looked through my drawers, i finally found some that were on the ground. i pick them up and revealed a skate board that was under neath it. it was the skate board that Spencer had given to me. i looked at it and remembered the day of the dance, when we had rode it to the dance. that was a good day. Spencer was a good guy, i just don't understand what's happened with him. Lately he's been getting into fights and trouble. i just wish he was the same friend that i had before. I just wish things were different between us right now. I wish we wer friends, but after what he did to Shawn, i don't know if that's gonna happen. i put the sweat pants in my gym bag and went downstairs to see my mom, Jonah, and Mike all at the table eating breakfast bars,"Sorry, i forgot to go grocery shopping yesterday, so we justsaid my mom. i nodded my head and grabbed a bar from the table. Mike was on his phone smiling. i tapped on his shoulder. he looked up at me,"Jamie." he said smiling,"That's great." i said then we both smile,"Hey we better get going." said Mike,"We still have like fifty minutes." i said,"Well, if you wanna grab some mc donalds, then we ave to leave like fifty minutes early honey." said Mike in a  high pitched girl voice,"Okay, let's go then." i said grabbing Ziggy and petting him a few times,"Let's go." Said Mike,"Bye puppy." I said grabbing my bag and heading out the door with Mike. Mike and I get into his car and go to Mcdonalds.

we pull up to the microphone thing to order our food,"Hello, welcome to Mc Donalds, may i take your order?" asked a perky girl,"Two mc muffins and two free coffees please." said Mike with no emotion,"Okay, that'll be four dollars and twenty-two cents." said the perky lady. we pull up to the drive up to blonde, tan skinned girl with Mc Donalds uniform, who was standing at the drive through,"Hi." she said quit perky,"Here you go." said Mike handing her the money,"Thank you and here's your change." she said grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil,"But i paid the right price, i shouldn't have any change." said Mike,"Oh here you go anyways." said the perky girl handing Mike a piece of paper that had her number on it. i looked at Mike who looked a little mad,"Um, Tiffany Bridgit? is it?" asked Mike. he guessed, because it was on the piece of paper and her name tag. she nods her head smiling,"Listen, i don't mean to be rude, but i have a girlfriend and i love her, so i don't really think i should take this." said Mike handing her the piece of paper back. Tiffany takes it back and nods sadly,"Well she's a very lucky girl...have a nice day." she said sadly then closes the window. we pull up to the other window and grab our food and coffees. Mike hands me my coffee, which i emmidiatly sip when he hands it to me. as i take a sip from the coffee, i burn my tonge,"FUCK." i whispered, but Mike still heard me. he looks at me with wide eyes as he sets the bag of food next to him,"What did you say young lady?" asked Mike acting like an old man. i giggle,"Nothing." i said inocently,"Okay." said Mike brushing it off and taking a sip from his coffee,"So, i think it's really cool what you did for Jamie." i said,"Thanks, but i do love her." said Mike smiling then takes another sip from his coffee. by the time we had gotten done with our food, we had gotten to school,"Thanks for breakfast." i said to Mike,"No problem." said Mike grabbing his bag from behind him and getting out of the car. i also got out of the car and went to my locker.

as i grab my things and check my phone for any messages. i didn't. but when i looked up, i saw Spencer coming towards. I close my locker, lock it, and quickly walk away from him. i tried to walk to a class room, but Spencer tugged at my arm,"I wanna talk to you." said Spencer,"I don't wanna talk to you." i said. i was about to walk into class, when Spencer lifts me up from the ground and swings me over his shoulder and walks me some where,"Spencer put me down right now." i said angrily. he didn't answer me or do as i asked. i started to kick at him,"PUT ME DOWN!" I shouted angrily. he finally puts me down, i look around and see that we were at another hallway, but it was an abandoned hallway where the school was redoing the area,"I just wanna say I'm sorry for what I-"

"If you wanna apologize, then don't apologize to me, apologize to Shawn, he' the one that you hurt." i said staring into his sad eyes,"Well, i wanna say that i'm sorry for ruining things between us...i love you...i know i shouldn't be telling you this, but i do, and...we belong together Maddie." said Spencer getting closer towards me,"Stop, i can't, i love Shawn, I gave us a chance to be just be friends, but obviously, you can't do that either, so we should just stay out of each other's lives." i said walking away. Spencer tugs at my rist and pulls me in. he tries to kiss me, but i slap him in the face,"Stop trying to do this to us!" i shouted then ran away.

I ran into Shawn as i was running away from Spencer,"Hey, what's wrong?" asked Shawn,"Are you crying?" asked Shawn. i checked my eyes,and didn't even notice, but i was crying,"i guess i am." I said,"What's wrong?" asked Shawn,"Spencer, don't worry about him, i'm notgonna hang out with him anymore, i just wanna be with you." i said then he hugs me,"I'm sorry babe, i know you guys were good friends." said Shawn. i sniffled into his chest,"I just don't know who he is anymore." i said drowning in my tears. Shawn holds me tighter,"It's gonna be okay." he said kissing my forehead. i nod,"This might sound weird, but can you sing?" i asked. it was quiet for a moment,"I don't want another pretty face, i don't want just someone to hold, i don't want my love to go to waist, i want you and your beautiful soul." sang Shawn making shivers go up and down my spine. as he sang to me, it made my soul grown a little brighter. after a few more minutes of singing and hugging, the bell rang,"That stupid bell." said Shawn. we both laugh as we release each other from our embrace,"Well, we better get to class." i said. Shawn whipes my eyes off for me, then gives me a quick kiss on the lips,"Bye beautiful." said Shawn,"Bye dimples." i said as he walks away and to his class.

*Gym!*

today we we playing vol;leyball. it was boys against girls which was gonna be awesome. i felt bad for the guys because there were three girls who knew exactly what they were doing. Nikki and i had a plan for me to set for her, and she would spike the ball. which i thought was a pretty good plan. the forst six girls that were gonna play, were Emmah, Jordynn, Nikki, Alivia, Adrienne, and i. which was pretty cool, because we all were pretty athletic. the first six guys that we were against, were Alan, Garrett B., Garrett J., Spencer, AJ, and Nick. they were also pretty athletic, so this was gonna be interesting. the girls were the first ones to serve. we all decuided on Alivia to serve first. Alivia serves and gets it over. Alan digs the ball, Spencer sets it, and Garrett B. spikes it, but Jordynn thankfully digs it and gets it high enough for me to set it. i set it high enough for Nikki to spike. Nikki goes for her approach and spikes it. AJ tries to dig it, but it ends up going out of control. so the girls won the first point.

the boys ended up winning by three points. but it was still fun.

after gym, i walked outside to see Shawn waiting for me,'Hey you." said Shawn hugging me and giving me a kiss on the cheek,"Hey what's up?" i asked,"Well, i was wondering if you wanted to hang out later... maybe go to the park and just...i don't know, just ahng out?" asked Shawn,"Sure, i'd love that." i said smiling. we hear a honk and turn around to se that it was my brother,"I gotta go, but i'll see ya later." i said grabbing my bag and going tto my brother's passengerr side seat. i turn around and wave goodbye one last time. Shawn waves back , smiling. those dimples drove me insane! i got in his car, and we went home.
