Kelly had stuck to his word, and came back to visit Meredith after his shift was finished but the female was already when he arrived. "she's look cute." he turned around to see Natalie standing there with Will beside her.

"we wanted to check up on her - heard she was here." the youngest Halstead brother nodded towards Meredith.

Will, Natalie and Kelly stood there for a few more minutes, watching the unconscious female sleep. Meredith had improved since the car fire and her crashing while Conor was checking her over downstairs in the ER. "she does look better." Kelly commented.

Thirty minutes had gone past, and the two doctors had left and Kelly had stayed to stay with his girl. "kelly?" he finally heard her voice after not hearing it for a few hours. "hi." she smiled as she watched him sit up from the uncomfortable hospital chair.

"why didn't you go home?" Meredith asked the firefighter in front of her.
"i said i would come back after my shift." he held her hand.

Meredith and Kelly spoke for a few hours, and he had agreed when April offered him a cot so he could stay the night with her. "i get to go home tomorrow morning." she told Kelly, as he was watching the TV.

The next day had rolled around, and Meredith was up before Kelly as she couldn't stay asleep due to knowing that she can go home that morning. "morning, Mer." she looked up from her phone when she heard the voice that saved her life.

"hey Con." she sat up to get comfortable.
"i'm just going to do a few tests to see if you are good to go." he told her, to which Meredith nodded her head to.

Meredith sat still as Conor was doing his tests, "all good to go." she smiled when Conor finished his statement. "perfect." she patted his hand. Conor left, saying that he would go and collect the discharge papers, which was the only thing keeping the blonde paramedic in the hospital.

"what are you doing up?"she stood up from bending down to see Kelly staring at her.
"uhm, tying my shoes?" she answered his question with one of her own.

Kelly shook his head, and stood up to go round to the female. "you good to go?"he asked as she folded the hospital gown and placed it on the bed. "yeah, Conor came in and done the final checks." she told the lieutenant.

Conor came back twenty minutes later, holding a couple of papers which Meredith instantly signed. "and don't come back." the male doctor laughed when he was handed the papers back. "i'll try not to." she smirked as she walked out the hospital with Kelly behind her.

Kelly drove them back to Meredith's apartment, as Meredith wanted a shower and wash her blonde locks. "i've missed this place." she spoke to herself as she opened the door. But what she didn't expect was to see her firehouse family in her living room.

"welcome home!" they all yelled as Meredith stepped through the door.
"oh my god." she laughed as she held her hand to her chest.

Meredith made her way around her friends, giving them all hugs. "hey Matt." she smiled when she hugged the male. "how are you feeling?"he asked his friend. "better." she smiled as she made her way to the Chief.

"i've been cleared to work - when do you want me back?"she asked her boss.
"monday - i'll give you the weekend off." he told his paramedic before giving her a small hug, then he went off to Donna.

The paramedic stood in the corner as she watched all of her friends and family, talking and getting along which made her smile. "hey, you good?"she turned her head to the side to see Kelly standing there. "yeah, all good." she smiled, and he nodded before wrapping his arms around her waist, and he rested his head on top of hers.

"they all missed you." he muttered in her ear.
"i missed them too." she spoke softly as they both watched them dance to the music which Otis put on.

Two days later

Monday came sooner than later, which meant it was Meredith's first day back after her accident. "good morning baby." she rolled over on her side, and her eyes opened to see Kelly standing there in his uniform, holding two cups of coffee. "morning." she smiled as she sat up.

Kelly handed her the cup, which she quickly drunk as she had to shower and get ready for the day before her. "are you ready to come back?" Kelly asked as he leaned against the door, as Meredith was tying her laces on her boots up. "if i wasn't, i would be in bed still." she winked as she stood up, and put her paramedic jacket on, and gave Kelly a quick peck on the lips before walking into the kitchen.

"hey! that wasn't even a kiss!"he yelled from the bedroom as he ran over to her, and picked her up from behind and spun her around which made Meredith squeal. "Kelly!" she laughed as she was being spun around in a circle. "give me a proper kiss, and i'll put you down." he told her as she nodded.

"fine!"she smiled to herself, and she turned around after Kelly had put her down. "here you go." she dramatically walked over to him, and gave him a kiss on the lips, and he tried to deepen the kiss but Meredith wasn't having it.

Meredith pulled away, which made the male in front of her pout. "we are going to be late, mister." she quickly put her hair in a messy bun, before grabbing her bag. "okay, let's go." he nodded, and he locked up and then they were off to the station.

The couple parked down the stairs, and met up with Matt and Otis, and they all walked in together. "morning." she waved at Cruz, who was talking with Sylvie. "morning, lieutenant." the voice that Meredith has forgotten about spoke.

Stella.

"Kidd." Kelly nodded as he gave her a tight smile before walking behind his girlfriend to put their bags in the locker. "i'm so hungry!" she moaned as she slammed her locker door shut. "if you didn't sleep in, you could of had breakfast." Kelly laughed as he done his lieutenant jacket up.

Meredith pouted as Kelly led them to the family room, where everyone was. "Herrmann! you are the best." she moaned as she saw him cooking breakfast. "woke up late?" he laughed as he was stirring the eggs. "me? no!"she tried to defend herself.

This made the whole station laugh.

"this is my family, and i'm glad to be back." she thought to herself.
