"okay! she's back!" Connor yelled as he had now intubated the paramedic and they were now on their way to CT to see why she had crashed.

"where are you taking her?" the trauma surgeon turned around to see where it came from and it was from Kelly. "she crashed." the doctor told him but that was all Connor could say.

Kelly watched as his girl was being raced away from him and up to somewhere where he wasn't going to be. "they are taking her up to CT." Maggie placed her hand on Kelly's shoulder.

Matt had came and got Kelly from standing aimlessly in the A&E section as people were complaining that he was getting in the way. "come on, you need to go home." the captain told his friend, but after a few drags and pulls, Kelly was sat in Matt's truck.

"she'll be fine." Matt looked over at Kelly
"i hope so, i really do." the lieutenant muttered.

Matt had waited till Kelly was changed and climbing into bed then he left to get back to the hospital. "any news?" he asked his wife when he sat down next to her. "no nothing." Gaby muttered as she played with her ring.

"hey guys." they all looked up to see Connor standing in front of them.
"how is she?" Otis was the first one to speak as he was concerned about his friend.

Connor explained that Meredith had inhaled a lot of smoke which then went into her lungs, and that made her heart stop as it was working too hard to fix the lung problem. "oh my god." Sylvie rubbed her forehead and started to pace.

"she'll be out in about five days." he nodded before leaving the group of firefighters in the waiting room.
"at least she's okay - we can go home now." Chief Boden forced everyone to go home and get some rest, as they know if something happened Connor would contact them.

Otis pulled out his phone and sent a text to Kelly explaining to him what Connor had explained to them.

"thanks man." Kelly sent a quick text back before putting his phone on charge.

Kelly stared at the photo on his bookcase which was of him and Meredith smiling in front of one of the fire trucks. They were happy there. They look in love there. "i'm sorry." he muttered as his fingers traced over her face.

Meredith woke with a fright as she didn't remember anything. "you're awake." she looked towards the door to see April standing in the doorway. "i am." she laughed as she watched the nurse enter the hospital room.

"you had really bad smoke inhalation and you had to be shocked." April explained the injuries to Meredith who nodded. "i'll be out within five days, right?" she asked as she knew that was the limit of smoke inhalation.

April nodded, and checked the sats before leaving Meredith to her own devices. April took out her phone before sending a text to Kelly, telling him that Meredith was awake but wasn't allowed visits at the moment.

"living the vida loca!" Meredith snug to herself as she shook her body.

"you good?" she stopped singing when she heard Connor's voice interrupt her singing.
"i was before you came." she smirked but gave the doctor a hug when he came over to her bed.

Meredith spoke to Connor for about thirty minutes until he was called for an emergency surgery. "byeeee!" he called as he ran out of the room which made the paramedic laugh. "bye." she laughed as she was now on her own again.

The blonde decided to check her phone, and she was grateful for all the messages from her firehouse family and then she saw some from Kelly. "i miss you, i'm sorry -get well soon🤍" and this made her smile as she couldn't keep being mad at the lieutenant.

"i miss you too xx." she sent back, and she watched the snow fall down from out the window.
"you doing okay?" she read the text from him, and she decided to send him a photo of herself doing a thumbs up, her hair was tied back in a messy ponytail and it was falling down her face.

"all good💀" she texted back and laughed at the emoji.
"bad choice of emoji." he sent back which made Meredith laugh.

Meredith placed her phone down before staring back outside the window again. "can i come see you?" her phone read out the message and she knew it was from Kelly Severide.

"i'll ask April, she will only say yes if it is only for an hour or two." she sent a voice message and waited for his response but it didn't come which made Meredith frown.

Twenty minutes went by, and dinner had been served and she was now on her dessert. "eating already" she knew the laugh from anywhere and it belonged to Kelly, who was standing in the doorway, holding a massive teddy bear.

"where did you get that from?" she smiled as he placed it down on the end of her bed, before pressing a kiss down on her forehead.
"supermarket." he shrugged as he pulled the chair closer to her bed.

The two talked for an hour but it felt like a lifetime, they laughed and they smiled. They even snuck in a few small kisses. "you have a shift in ten hours." she muttered when she looked at her phone, as she was waiting for a message from Sylvie, who was telling her about her replacement.

"i'll leave in an hour." he told the off duty paramedic before he lent down to kiss her again.
"hm." she moaned into the kiss, and then Kelly pulled away.

Kelly sat down but grabbed her hand. "i'm sorry for the whole thing with Stella. It was the heat of the moment." and Kelly Severide started rambling.

Meredith lent up and placed her hand over his mouth, "it's fine - i'm over it." she laughed at the cute antic of him rambling. "you have?" he tilted his head to the side, and it looked like a dog when their owner says something and the dog is listening.

"yes." she nods.
"thank god!" he let out a breath of air.

April cleared her throat, "it's time to go, Kel." she gave both a sympathetic smile as she heard of them making up. "i'll see you after my shift." he gave her a quick kiss before smiling at April then he left for the night and day.

"cute!" April winked and then Meredith was left on her own.
