The trees felt like home for Meredith, she felt like they connected to her in a way that nothing else could. She felt peace and nothing could stop her from experiencing this, well maybe Kelly when he interrupted her thoughts when he called her name.
"Meredith!" he yelled as he walked through the forest to find his girlfriend. "over here!" she called as she was staring at the lake that she was in front of her.
Kelly emerged through the trees, with a basket in his grasps and a blanket in the other. "having a picnic, are we?" she chuckled once the male landed in front of her. "i thought it would be nice." he defended his actions but laughed when she started to chuckle.
The couple sat and watched the birds, and how the fish swam in the lake.. this is what Meredith loved doing when she needed something peaceful. "isn't this just... amazing." she breathed in a mouthful of fresh air, which made her lungs feel delighted.
Time went by, and before they both knew it, it was time to pack up and head back home as it was nearing sunset, and the skies would become dark rather quickly. "let's go." the blonde told her boyfriend, as she stood up and dusted herself off before watching Kelly do the same.
Meredith led the way back to Kelly's truck, and they were ready to settle into the air conditioned car... and they were faced with a car swerving off the road and landed straight into a tree. "oh my god!" Meredith yelled, and got out the car, and ran over to the now smokey car.
"are you okay?" she peeked her head through the window to see an elderly couple with two kids in the back.
Meredith searched around to see Kelly grabbing his small kit that all firefighters have. "i'm Meredith, i'm a paramedic and this is Kelly, a firefighter." she introduced themselves to the couple, as it would build trust and then it would help get them out of the car.
Kelly and Meredith went through the standard questions, which was : what their names were (including the kids), everyone's age, and any medical history that Meredith should know about. "get the kids first." Brian told the two as he couldn't move his neck.
"i think he has a spinal." Meredith muttered into Kelly's ear. "we need something to keep it in place." he looked around, and got two sticks before holding them up.
"it'll have to do." Meredith nodded, and she instructed Kelly to keep them place while she used tape to secure it.
Meredith explained to Brian that he couldn't move his neck, as she suspected a spinal injury which could result in paralysis. "i'm coming to you now, Kathy." she told her, as Kelly was working on the kids.
"there's no signal." her boyfriend alerted her.
"this road isn't busy but a few cars do come down here around three pm." she told him as she assessed Kathy. "definitely a broken arm." she told the woman, as the bone was sticking out.
