The death of one of their own was and is going to be hard, and it will never fade away. The dreadful feeling they felt, once they heard the news that Otis had died because of a fire... it hurt everyone, especially Kelly as he classed him a close friend.
"the flag is being lowered." Chief Boden called out, which meant all the firefighters who are attending had to straighten up, and salute for Otis.

Meredith stared straight ahead, and her focus was on the photo they used to remember Otis, and she let a few tears slid out as she was there when the photo was taken, as she was there celebrating his 20th birthday.
"dismissed." Boden told everyone, and then everyone fell out. Elizabeth was one of the last ones to fall out as she was in the back row. "i'm sorry, Otis." she whispered to herself, and brushed her finger against the photo of her fallen friend.
Elizabeth was met by Gabby and Matt as they led her over to Kelly, who was talking to Cruz. "how are you doing?" the blonde asked the taller male, as he was there when Otis passed in the hospital.
"i have no... emotions." Cruz muttered.
Twenty Four Hours Ago The department was called to a fire in a mattress factory and they were told that one of the machines had caught on fire as it was too hot. "this is massive." Elizabeth got out of the ambulance, and agreed with Sylvie's statement.
"definitely." the blonde nodded as they walked closer towards the scene.
The two EMT's were standing next to the backup firefighters who were on the task of the secondary fire, but their vision was cut off when a big piece of smoke exploded from the roof. "woah!" Sylvie yelled as everyone covered their eyes.
"you two good?" Otis asked, once he saw the two girls standing there. "we're good, you?" Elizabeth asked as she wiped away the dark smoke from her vision.
Otis stayed with the two girls until it was his time to go into the factory to help put out the secondary fire. "Otis! time to come in." Matt's voice beckoned from the radio. "i'll see you two ladies later." he smiled before running into the building, while putting his oxygen mask on.
"i don't know how they do it." Elizabeth told her best friend as they watched on as firefighters kept running in and out.
Thirty minutes had gone past, and neither of the girls had heard anything from their department, which made them worry as they weren't answering their radios. "Matt! come in." Elizabeth clicked the button on her radio but no answer followed.
"Elizabeth! get the bed!" Matt yelled which made the two girls confused on why they needed a bed... then they saw a lifeless Otis being carried out. "what happened?"she asked the male, as Otis was placed on the gurney.
Matt looked at Otis before looking at Elizabeth, "a piece of debris fell on top of him, and his alarm didn't go off until Kelly found him." he explained what happened to the two paramedics.
