Vixen POV

I settled on a flat stone inside the cave. We had returned here because Kairo had warned that it was dangerous to stay outside the forest due to lurking beasts.

The cave seemed to serve as their hideout, a resting spot for Kairo and Jiaro when they ventured into the forest.

"So... tell me about yourselves," I prompted. They exchanged glances before Kairo began.

"I'm Kairo, and this is my twin brother, Jiaro. We are the heirs to the throne of Usuros, the rulers of our people in the land of Zebu," Kairo said, studying me intently. Their status seemed prominent here.

"We've come here to collect hot stones that we use during winter," Jiaro added, displaying a glowing red stone that emitted warmth. He handed it to me, and I took it, feeling its gentle heat on my skin.

"They use these stones for warmth during their winter," I mused. "How many of you live here now?"

"We are the remaining 140 of our kind," Kairo explained, which was fewer than I expected. I had presumed the planet was teeming with Usuros.

"The population dwindled because of a pandemic. Stones from the sky landed on our land, releasing a deadly smoke that took the lives of our females. Many males also perished during the wars," Jiaro added.

"Stones from the sky? Wars?" I inquired, fascinated.

"A conflict broke out among the males who survived after losing their loved ones. Our father enacted a law that allowed females to choose their partners, which further fueled the males' anger," Kairo elaborated. "Now, we have only 20 females left, so when we found you, we were puzzled. Females are precious to our kind."

After their explanation, I began to share my background.

"I'm from Earth, the blue planet, and I'm a vampire. Unlike you, I can't control elements, but vampires are known for our intelligence. Our preferred sustenance is blood," I confessed.

"Blood?" Kairo inquired, his brow furrowing.

"Yes, the red liquid that flows from our wounds," I clarified, retracting my fangs to emphasize my point.

"We usually consume it using our fangs," I continued.

Kairo and Jiaro appeared to grasp the concept. I displayed my fangs to them, which seemed to startle them.

"I don't know why I ended up here. The last thing I remember is working in our lab when our invention malfunctioned, and then I opened my eyes here. But rest assured, I mean no harm. There are beings like you in our world," I assured them.

They nodded in understanding. As we continued to converse, I noticed a hint of curiosity in their eyes, prompting them to ask more questions.

We chatted about various topics, and I learned more about their culture. Interestingly, they didn't seem to understand the concept of a mate, a crucial aspect of werewolves and vampires on Earth.

As the conversation continued, my stomach rumbled, catching their attention.

"Jiaro will hunt," Kairo announced.

"We'll stay here," I confirmed. While I waited for their return, I took a look at myself. I realized how dirty I was—entangled hair, dirty and bloodied clothes, and even my once-white sneakers were now brown. The discomfort was growing, and I began to feel an itch on my skin. After our meal, I decided to ask the two men where I could take a bath.

Kairo prepared a fire for our food, using a metal pan over the flames. The pan was quite large, and it appeared to be their method of cooking.

"After we gather hot stones tomorrow, we'll head back to Zebu," Kairo explained.

I nodded in agreement. We had discussed their home earlier, and despite my unease about meeting their people, they reassured me that I would be safe, emphasizing the importance of females in their society.

Satisfied after the meal, we began preparing for sleep. Jiaro arranged leaves on a flat stone, indicating where I should rest. He then gestured for me to come closer, placing his hands on my shoulders and gently guiding me to sit down.

"Sleep," he stated, his intense gaze locking with mine. I acknowledged with a nod and offered him a smile. His eyes drifted lower, specifically to my cleavage. I cleared my throat.

"Are you alright?" he didn't respond, instead walking away.

"I'll keep watch," he said as he moved closer to the entrance.

I lay down and found myself grinning. I turned to face Kairo, who was sitting and observing me curiously.

"Hey," I greeted. However, he remained unresponsive, seemingly lost in thought.

"Going back to Earth seems impossible," I mused to myself, contemplating the uncertainties of my new life on this foreign planet..
