You make we wanna love, hate, cry, take, every part of you
You make me wanna scream, burn, touch, learn, every part of you....
The next morning Selene arrived in Kattegat. She brought Cerberus with her who nearly made me fall as he greeted me. With them the other people, my clothing and the things I had brought from my Island came as well.
It has been a few days at most but somehow she even looked bigger than she was before and even more radiant. She's going to wear motherhood well.
I hadn't slept, I didn't know where to and I most definitely wouldn't lay in the bed Ivar had laid in if he slept at all either.
I was bathing while Selene talks about everything Cerberus did while I was away as he lay on the floor in front of the tub.
"But all together he behaved very well." she ended talking stroking her belly again.
"But what about you? Tell me all about the battle." She begs and I giggle leaning on the edge of the bathtub to look at her.
"It was brutal. I thought the fights back in England were rough but I quickly realised that noting I had ever seen could've compared to this horror. People were dieing like the flies. Everywhere you looked you saw corpses or parts of them." I spin the tales I'm sure we would hear for a long time, still not fully gripping the horrors I have seen.
"I'm sure the first lyricists are already writing about it." She chuckles and I laugh with her. She'd always enjoyed music much more than I did which caused her to beg me to drag er to the small fests my family were invited to because of my father. We'd dance together and for the next weeks she'd only sing the melodies she had learned.
"I also saw Athena and Ares." I confess being sure that it wasn't just a vision.
"By the gods. They helped you in the war!" she yells holding her hand over her mouth.
"I'm sure they did. Why else would the Goddess of war and her brother come this far into the north."
"Did you tell Ivar?" she asks a little worried.
"How? He wouldn't want to hear it." I shake her off.
"Are you fighting again?"
"Not really I'm just mad at him. His choice of words yesterday was questionable and he upset me quite a lot."
"So the rumours aren't true? I mean that you two are going to marry."
"He asked me. On the battlefield. Of course I said yest but-" I can't even finish because of her screeching.
"Oh how exciting! It's going to be a weeding worthy for gods even!" She begins but I quickly cut her off.
"I'm sure that my say in this will be limited. It's Ivar we talk about, he will want a fully viking wedding with sacrifices, blood and drunk sex." I answer going deeper into the water till it reaches over my shoulders.
My hands mindlessly grab Thors hammer around my neck twirling it in my fingers. It was delicate and beautiful, worthy of a Queen to wear but more important Ivar had given it to me. And because it had meant so much for me to be protected I had sworn myself to wear it every day.
