Sky watched Iris burst through the throng in search of him. Each stride she took in the stunning white evening dress that framed her body was purposeful. Like almost every other female in attendance, her dark hair was done up and drawn away from her face. Only her profile was visible as she failed to locate him. Her nose was the first thing to draw his attention. It was straight the way most displeased women would pay thousands at a plastic surgeon's for, albeit a little larger than the norm.

The next thing he noted was the smoothness of her skin—every bronze inch displayed. It was as if she didn't have bruises marking her neck days ago. No witch in his experience healed that quickly. He entertained the thought of it maybe being was some form of concealer or a glamor.

He felt more than saw her eyes hone in on him. Then she was moving again, directly for him this time.

"I was beginning to think you stood me up." Sky said with the egotistical smile that he wore so well.

"Where's my sister?"

"Here I was thinking you came all this way to see me." He gestured to the spot next to him. "Have a talk with me Drusilla."

"Don't call me that."

"It is your name."

"It is but only the people really close to me get to call me that."

"Oh, I see." He only said and reached for his glass of Scotch, his fingers curled around the vessel holding the amber liquid gently but firmly as he brought the glass to his lips. "Well, I actually kind of like the name. You don't hear people naming their kids Drusilla anymore." He smirked. "I think I'll be your exception."

Iris worked her jaw for a moment, probably deciding what words to shoot back at him. Instead, she chose to all but scream, "Where is she?"

He had to admit he found the tiniest amusement in provoking her. She was so irascible. However, his childish ways needed to take a backseat. He needed to get a point across. He patted the wall beside him suggestively. "Let's have a chat."

"Let's not."

He watched her sweep the area for her sister. She must have guessed that charming girl was nowhere near, because she was turning on her heel.

"Stay." He couldn't help the aggression in his tone. His patience had worn thin. "I'm not asking."

Iris turned back to him, scowling. She didn't say a word or come beside him as he asked. She stood in front of him with her arms folded defiantly. His eyes went to her throat the instant her diamond choker glinted. Almost impulsively, he analyzed it further. His sight was very keen.

From what he could tell, there wasn't a trace of cosmetics on her neck or face for that matter. Natural beauty. But the neck thing commanded his interest more. His eyes trailed up to her face and met her emerald stare. She was seething.

"Sorry to disappoint you," she sneered, "but I've had enough of you Jaydens trying to take a bite out of my neck."

Sky allowed his lips to quirk up once before managing an impassive expression. "Certain things are better left unsaid."

"Is this another threat, because I don't have the time for it?"

"Threat?" Sky feigned shock. "Of course not, darling."

"Good. You don't need to worry because I won't risk my family." Her expression darkened. "I'm not stupid but I'm not forgiving either."

"Making threats of you own?"
