All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses

No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad—

"Enough of this crap." Sky leaned forward to turn off the radio from behind Gregory over the cushiony seat.

He was driving them in the Silverado from the rental place they stopped by as soon as they touched base. Sky started to gather he had a thing for trucks. Big trucks.

"Don't you dare!" Mae, crammed between her dad and Gregory in the bench seat, slapped his hand away. "Adam Lambert is about to kill this song."

"Yeah?" He gave her his sweetest smile before dropping it. "Keep singing along and you're going to kill me."

"Unless you want to find out how it feels to be neutered without anesthesia, back off."

"See, I was getting ready to do that too." Jacob told him as Sky settled back in his seat, fiddling with the knife in his hands. "Then I figured that would happen and I'm not ready to lose any vital parts yet. Old age can take care of that."

"What is this anyway?" Valentine asked with a frown beside Sky in the back. "It isn't exactly setting the mood."

"It's Mad World and it exists outside of occasions."

"Sure is driving me mad."

Mae glared at him from the rearview mirror.

"Can we at least turn it down?" Sky huffed.

Mae continued glaring and the music swelled louder.

Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me

"This is why we don't let her pick the music." Jacob whispered. "Not if you don't want to lose your mind anyway."

Mae's booted feet tapped against the dashboard of the rental as she sang along to the music. Sky groaned, letting his head fall back on his seat. He wondered how fast he could rip her vocals out. Would anyone honestly mind? If he was careful, she'd probably survive it and she could learn sign language.

"Hey, hunter?" he called out to Gregory.

"What am I," Jacob murmured, "chopped liver?"

"Yeah, scum?" he answered.

"You realize we're heading into the lion's den—what's your infamous catch phrase?—halfcocked and half stupid."

"I have a plan."

"Which would be?"

"Stick to the original plan and get my baby girl out alive."

Sky nodded. "That's genius! Why didn't I think of that?"

"Shut up."

"Keeping in mind that we don't have the element of surprise and his double agent's probably telling him every detail of our plan equaling him changing up his strategy, what do you plan on doing about her? They have four strong offenses now."

"And we have twelve. Did you forget she's not anticipating your brother?"

"True, but everyone's on the compulsion immunity boat on the other side."
