"He's medication is kept in the drawer in the left and..."

"I assure you, Francesca, he'll be fine."

I sighed, "Okay, my lord"

"You don't have to address me that way, you're like the daughter I never had"

"Hey!" Annie said, unamused.

"Just a joke, Annie." The Duke had quite a sense of humor.

I took the offer for Birbury, and I still wasn't sure I had made the right decision. But we only live once, right?

I was headed for the train station and I had a million things on my mind. I really was going to be living in a castle for three months? I had read about how abrupt changes in life happen so suddenly to people, but like the concept of true love, it barely was true. But if that is the case, then what would my situation be titled as? Well I guess some things from books could happen...

I took the train for about 6 hours. I was completely drained , but I had arrived. I got off the train expecting to walk a few kilometers, but a carriage arrived a few steps in front of me. They immediately took my luggage.

" Excuse me?" I thought I was being robbed.

"They are meant to take your luggage, you know?"

A sarcastic comment came out from the carriage. I was utterly embarrassed, but in my defense, they were being quite fast like as if thieves.

A 6'2 man, dark hair, and rather handsome I'd say, stepped out the carriage and stood right in front of me. He's deep voice made it hard to concentrate on what he was saying. He had a very pessimistic expression on his face, and I could tell he would rather be doing something else.

"Are you Miss. Francesca Scott?"

" Uh...yes"

"Then please get into carriage, we would have arrived if it wasn't for this unnecessary conversation"

He immediately jumped back into the carriage, and me after him. I didn't understand. From the clothes he was wearing to the shoes he had, I could confidently say he came from a wealthy family. So what was his problem? He had the feature's of Greek god, and from what I can tell, the money of one in authority. In my books, he shouldn't have a single problem in the world.

"Are you the other person spending summer in the castle?" I tried to make conversation, seeing as I would be spending most my time with him.

"No I'm the castle maid," he said, looking out the window

"The castle..."

He turned to look at me, waiting for me to realise...

" It was a joke". He then scoffed and faced back at the window.

Clearly this was gonna be a long three months. I won't let him ruin it for me so I'll simply just stay clear of him once we arrived, I'm sure he would be glad about that.

The rest of the ride was silent. Painfully so.
