another hour crawled by before i realised valerie still wasn't back, and i know she had told me not to wait up for her, but i started to get curious.

it was so like her to go wandering off to do something, but it wasn't like her to not tell me what she was going to do.

so i went looking.

i didn't even think she knew her own way around the castle, so i had no idea where she would be.

i even went back to the library to see if she was there, which she obviously wasn't.

the last place i went to check was the dungeons by the slytherin dorms and common room, i already hated it down there, and i couldn't bear the thought of seeing mattheo again.

i knew she would be there, but i just wanted her to be anywhere else.

i walked over to the door and knocked quietly, i didn't want to disturb anyone who could be in there, and they weren't really known for being particularly welcoming.

no answer.

i sighed before turning back around, knowing i'd have to just keep sitting around and waiting for her like always.

a rowdy group of sixth year boys cheered their way down the hallway towards me, and i lowered my head to avoid making any contact, walking briskly to pass them as soon as i could.

nearly at the end of the corridor, i brushed one of the boys shoulders, "sorry," i said quietly, still walking away quickly.

"you're okay, bella." they replied.

i stopped in my path and looked up for the first time in nearly a minute.

him again.

i turned to face him, he had done the same and he was stood there looking pleased with himself.

"you following me or something?" he asked

i shook my head, a lump forming in my throat.

he tilted his head slightly, "i didn't mean for you to see us there earlier bella," only embarrassed he'd been caught, "i didn't even want her she just threw herself at me."

i nodded along.

"can't blame her though, right?"

"you looked like you were enjoying it too," i said under my breath, remembering how his head was thrown back against the book shelf

"oh so you can talk, can you?" he laughed quietly before stepping towards me, "thought you were a quiet one."

i didn't even know what to reply with.

it went quiet.

"there she is again," he said, smiling again and not breaking the eye contact he had held with me the whole time.

he walked towards me, so close that we could feel each others breath against one another.

i felt my cheeks flush red and i looked away, at the door behind him, at the wall, anything that wasn't him.

"something interesting?" he asked, turning my head back to him, his hand along my jaw and his thumb lifting my head up just so our eyes could meet.

he looked down at me, a smile still playing at the corners of his mouth.

"you promise you won't tell anyone about earlier, bell?" he asked me in a hushed voice.

i nodded slowly again, still at a loss for words - this wasn't happening.

"promise." i eventually said weakly between deep breaths.

my heart pounded, and i didn't even know why, nothing was really happening.

"you okay?" he asked, fully aware of what he was doing to me, still half smiling at me.

he moved his hand down to the neckline of my top, slipping his fingers just below it, the warmth of his hand weighing against my chest and collarbones, feeling my heart beat faster and faster.

"am i making you nervous, bella?"

my breath slowed with the weight of his palm.

i laughed quietly, "definitely not," i said, even though we both fully knew he was.

he leaned into my ear, "you're not a very convincing actor bella."

he smiled one last time before turning his back on me, the warmth of his breath disappearing, and walked back to the door of his common room, "and stop stalking me," he shouted back at me.

the door swung open before he had chance to open it himself, and out came blaise.

with valerie.

"oh, bella! we were just,"

"having sex?" i cut her off, laughing.

"well, yeah," her smile beaming from ear to ear.

"i'll see you later val," blaise said as she walked to me, holding her hand behind her until they couldn't reach each other anymore.

he turned back to the common room and mattheo followed him in.

"i've got so much to tell you!" she practically squealed as soon as the door shut and we began walking back to the common room.

"wait," she said suddenly, "what were you and mattheo doing out there?"

"just looking for you," i told her, being mostly honestly.

because nothing really happened, right?
