Sirius Black attacks

They were all to remain in the Great Hall. None of them knew why but it seemed serious. Speaking of serious, rumours said that the Fat Lady, or as Layla preferred to say, The Singing Lady, had been attacked by Sirius Black.

I suppose in times like this, it's great to have a narrator. So yes, I'll confirm those rumours.

But that's beside the point. This is about the two third-year students who remained awake. Drowning in their thoughts. You would think things had have been easier at such a young age. But unfortunately, it wasn't.

If only they had one another. Another child who was scared and simply needed someone to relate to.

Layla contorted into one of confusion as a small piece of parchment folded into a bird flew above. Reaching up, she gently grabbed ahold of the delicate creature. It sat perfectly in her hand. A Blue Jay. Despite the beauty, it was quickly unfolded into letter form.

𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝔀𝓪𝓴𝓮 𝓽𝓸𝓸?

The writing was beautiful. Something Layla could only imagine a sixth year being able to do. Reluctantly she picked up her wand. A piece of parchment and her wand would do.

𝒴𝑒𝒶𝒽.

𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝓀𝓃𝑜𝓌, 𝐼 𝒶𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈 𝒶𝒹𝓂𝒾𝓇𝑒𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝑒𝓃𝒸𝒽𝒶𝓃𝓉𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉 𝑜𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒸𝑒𝒾𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔. 𝐵𝓊𝓉 𝒾𝓉'𝓈 𝓈𝑜 𝓂𝓊𝒸𝒽 𝓂𝑜𝓇𝑒 𝒷𝑒𝒶𝓊𝓉𝒾𝒻𝓊𝓁 𝒶𝓉 𝓃𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉.

A hummingbird.

Neither of the two knew the person on the other end of the letters. Maybe thats why it became so easy to write.

𝓓𝓸 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝓶𝓾𝓬𝓱 𝓪𝓫𝓸𝓾𝓽 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼?

𝓒𝓪𝓷 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓼𝓮𝓮 𝓒𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓲𝓸𝓹𝓮𝓲𝓪? 𝓓𝓲𝓭 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓶𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝔀𝓪𝓼 𝓷𝓪𝓶𝓮𝓭 𝓪𝓯𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓪 𝓿𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓺𝓾𝓮𝓮𝓷 𝓲𝓷 𝓖𝓻𝓮𝓮𝓴 𝓶𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓰𝔂?

At the bottom of the page was a sketch of the constellation. Layla looked up to the ceiling, searching for the stars. When she finally caught sight of them, a small smile rested on her lips.

𝒲𝑜𝓌, 𝓃𝑜 𝐼 𝒹𝒾𝒹𝓃'𝓉. 𝒟𝑜 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓀𝓃𝑜𝓌 𝒶 𝓁𝑜𝓉 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝒸𝑜𝓃𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓁𝓁𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈? 𝐼 𝑜𝓃𝓁𝓎 𝓀𝓃𝑜𝓌 𝒶 𝒻𝑒𝓌 𝓂𝓎𝓈𝑒𝓁𝒻. 𝐿𝒾𝓀𝑒 𝒜𝓊𝓇𝒾𝑔𝒶.

𝒲𝒽𝒾𝒸𝒽 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓊𝓇𝒾𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓃?

𝓗𝓪𝓻𝓭 𝓽𝓸 𝓼𝓪𝔂... 𝓟𝓻𝓸𝓫𝓪𝓫𝓵𝔂 𝓓𝓻𝓪𝓬𝓸. 𝓘𝓽'𝓼 𝓛𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓷 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓓𝓻𝓪𝓰𝓸𝓷.

𝓘𝓽 𝓵𝓸𝓸𝓴𝓼 𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼...

𝐼 𝓈𝑒𝑒, 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓉𝓎.

𝐸𝓉 𝐿𝒶𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝓁𝑜𝓆𝓊𝒾 𝒹𝑒 𝒶 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝓃𝓊𝓂?

𝓥𝓪𝓮! 𝓣𝓾 𝓺𝓾𝓸𝓺𝓾𝓮?

𝓦𝓪𝓷𝓷𝓪 𝓼𝓮𝓮 𝓼𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓯𝓾𝓷𝓷𝔂?

Suddenly a howl emitted through the room, causing many to jump awake. Knowing that the sound was simply another student, Layla relaxed, giggling a little.

𝓝𝓸𝔀 𝓘 𝓫𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓰𝓸 𝓽𝓸 𝓼𝓵𝓮𝓮𝓹 𝓫𝓮𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓮 𝓘 𝓰𝓮𝓽 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓻𝓸𝓾𝓫𝓵𝓮.

𝓘 𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓸 𝔂𝓸𝓾 ♥️

That was the first time she saw that handwriting. Yet, the following times she would still fail to connect the dots.

But maybe that wasn't necessary. What Draco and Layla both needed was one another. Whether they knew that then or not.

Oh, to be young and ignorant.
