"Ugh," Pansy groans, "I can't believe you only have Transfiguration and herbology with us Draco." She has been complaining about her and Blaise having all their classes together for a while now. But despite the constant eye-rolling and scoffs, she hasn't stopped smiling.

"Well, I'm not all too worried about having classes alone," I pause for a moment "how the fuck did I end up in Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies?!" We had been sitting under a tree near the black lake, for at least an hour now. As we all had a free period. It was nice to be back. Although I hated to admit it, I loved being back at Hogwarts. I had missed my friends, I had missed the Common Room, I missed the Slytherin parties.

The Malfoy Manor wasn't exactly the happiest place during the break, I could tell something was wrong. I had tried to ignore discussion at the Manor during summer break, I knew he was back. I dreaded going home. The thought of my mother and father being so obsessed. Letting his words, his promises, his demand, his threats flow threw the home, the home I grew up in, as they stand nodding their heads. All my good memories of home with my mother and even with my father begin to fade. Replaced with the face of him. He was back, Voldemort had returned. Yet my parents just stood there rather than thinking about what would happen... there would be a war... people would die... A girl walked around the corner and began walking in the opposite direction, brown hair, green eyes, Hufflepuff robe.

What would happen to Layla?

Layla

"Layla!" A girl screeched behind me, I jumped slightly frightened by the sudden noise. I smiled realising who it was,

"Pansy" I walked over to the Slytherin who was now standing, greeting her with a hug. We had been writing to each other over the summer, even meeting up occasionally, she was actually really kind when you got to know her. Pansy and I had developed quite an unexpected friendship. It had taken my parents by surprise that was for sure, and I even had a hard time believing it. But Pansy was there when I was grieving, and I was ever so grateful for that.

"Come sit" she pointed over to the tree she was sitting at the bottom off not so long. I instantly locked eyes with a blonde boy, Draco Malfoy. We had spoken once. I could still remember the conversation, It shocked me how truly kind Draco could be. I often heard of him to be mean and cruel, but as I walked with him that day, I could tell he was smiling. Smiling at me. I didn't speak to him again after that, I was too scared. But as I looked into those grey eyes, I regretted not. Although they seemed cold from the outside, I could only see-

"Hey," Blaise said, waving his hand in front of my face, "you two done staring at each other?" Blaise smirks, earning a nudge from Pansy. I laughed finally pulling my gaze away. I look back to Draco seeing a smirk spread across his face, I took a seat next to Pansy before commenting,

"Nice hair Malfoy," I turned to look at him "who told you to start wearing it like that?" He laughed

"I wonder" I watched as a smirk spread across his face.

"So," Pansy said sick of not being the centre of attention, this made me giggle a bit. We all talked for a while about nothing important. I enjoyed conversations like this back at home, every conversation had a purpose. Talking about things like my grades at school, upcoming social gatherings and worst of all our families social status. I couldn't understand why people could have friends, for the sole purpose of defending a good reputation. All was well until the question, I was dreading most came up,

"So Layla" Pansy said, "How was your summer?"
