Time to Talk

She had to fight her way to the airliner through a mountain of people trying to talk her out of going. Banner, for his part, tried logic, then when that didn't work he tried emotionally pleading with her to wait for Sam and the others to return but she refused. Every cell in her body was screaming for her to go rescue Bucky. It was like she couldn't fully breath if she didn't know he was alright. She didn't like this feeling. She didn't like the codependence she had developed but never the less here she was at the airport about to board a military plane to Madripoor. It was the only thing she could do. Sam arrived just before she got on the plane.

"Lyra no, he would kill me if I let you do this. You're not only risking your life but the life of your child. Erik and Daisy are here and safe. They need you. Bucky would never be okay with this." Sam said grabbing her arm and turning her to look him in the eyes. He was still in his Captain America suit with his wings out for everyone there to see. All eyes were on them.

Lyra shrugged his hold off. "Sam I know what you're saying is true. I know he wouldn't want me to do this but every part of me is screaming for me to do this. He needs me. I can save him now. He has always been the protector. Even when he was under Hydra's control they manipulated him by making him feel like he was protecting everyone. It is who he is innately. Well, now he needs someone to come to his rescue and protect him. I know I am risking a lot. I know this child means the world to him, but I don't want to be in a world where he isn't. I have to do this" She stood firm staring down Sam daring him to stop her because she would continue to fight him. She wasn't stopping until she got to Bucky.

Sam looked down and shook his head. "Lord, of course, Buck had to fall for a woman who is more stubborn than he is." He chuckled. "Alright...I see you're dead set on this craziness so the only way I can make sure you're safe is to go along too, but we're not flying commercial." He pulled his wings back into his pack and grabbed her bag from her hand and started towards a hanger much further down.

She followed with her head held high.

It's not everyday that you argue with Captain America and win  She thought.

"But wait Sam, where are Daisy and Erik right now?"

"They're on they're way to the compound with Banner" he told her.

She sighed in relief and turned on her comms: "Hey Banner can I talk to my little guy?"

"Sure" he said through the ear piece and she heard him remove it and hand it to Erik.

"Momma?" the little boy said with hesitancy.

"Hey my sweet boy." she said with relief as a single tear slide from her eye. "I'm so sorry I'm not with you now but I have to go take care of something first. I have a big surprise for you when I get back okay?"she told him with regret in her voice. She didn't want to leave now that her boy was safe but she had to save Bucky. She held her stomach and listened on the comms.

"Momma, are you going to help Mr. Bucky? He saved me momma. He told me to run and he fought all those bad people but they shocked him momma. He was so strong momma."

"Yes baby, I know. He needs me right now, okay? Now that I know you are safe I need to go save him too."

"Momma, be careful the bad people have guns and they will try to hurt you too."

"I will baby. I promise. I love you so much" she said as another tear went down her cheek.

"I love you too momma."

She turned off her comms and headed into the bay door of the large aircraft Sam had just taken her to. They got seated and strapped in for the long journey. The bay doors closed and the plane began it's take off. The military pilot sat quietly at the front of the military plane while Sam and Lyra stayed in the cargo area. It was dead silent accept for the hum of the engines.  Sam could tell she didn't want to speak. She sat in silence with small tears coming down her cheeks.
