Bucky sat in the metal chair with his head down arms tied with metal chains behind his back and his legs also bound to a chain secured to the floor. He was still exhausted and his head was pounding when he woke up. The communication device in his ear was ripped out and his ear had dried blood on it and was still slightly ringing from the trauma. He was also pissed. They had given the information. Why would the Power Broker want him? He heard footsteps enter the cell he was in. It looked like he was in the cellar of an old building. Not a prison or jail but some type of room made to be a cage, possibly for an animal.
How fitting He thought.
"Hello Soldier" an odd voice said to him "Or is it just Sargent Barnes now?"
He looked up and saw a female dressed in all black with a white plastic mask covering her face. Her hair was tied up in a bun and covered by a hat. She did not want him to see any of her, which was odd. What was she hiding? Who was she?
"Do I have the pleasure of finally meeting the mysterious Power Broker? I feel honored. I'd shake your hand but.." he shook his chains "I'm a bit tied up."
Her voice was very distorted. She was using something to mask it. "We know how powerful you are Sargent Barnes so we took every precaution. Why did you provide us with false information? This woman is very much dead. "
"That's a pity. We weren't aware that she had passed. I'm sorry to hear Steve's grandchild is gone." He hung his head as if mourning the lose. He wasn't about to tell her that Lyra was the actual grandchild. She was too precious.
"Nice try Sargent, but we know this woman was not Steve's blood. It makes us wonder, is Mrs. Riddles the prize we seek. " She leaned down and looked into his eyes searching for a reaction but stayed just out of range for him to headbutt her.
Smart he thought she knows what I'm capable of. That's bad for me though. Keep your cool Barnes no matter what she says about Lyra you cannot tell her the truth.
The strange masked woman gave nothing away about her identity and she also saw no reaction from Bucky when she discussed Lyra. Neither was getting the answers they wanted and it made the room even tenser.
"Sargent you need to answer my questions or this conversation will get very unpleasant quickly" She motioned to someone outside the door behind her and a hand came into view with the large shock stick that had knocked Bucky out at the meet up site.
"I'm not a cow you know" Bucky stated matter-of-factly as he gave her his best annoyed smirk.
"Yes, Sargent, but you were treated as an animal for decades we thought it appropriate to do the same."
"Ouch, I'm offended."
"Good. Now again, I ask you, is Mrs. Riddles, Lyra as you call her, truly a Rogers?" As she said this she turned on a trigger and the rod started to light up with sparks flying off of it.
He shook his head no and she placed the blue glowing rod to his leg and began to shock him hard. He didn't scream. He bit his lip and thought of Lyra. He would do anything to protect her. He thought of her smile, her laugh, how she smelled, her touch, her kisses, it kept him grounded even though every nerve in his body was on fire.
When he didn't scream the woman stopped and looked at him the mask keeping her emotions hidden but her eyes showed curiosity.
"Is that all you've got?" He smiled and shot a spit a bit of blood at her feet.
"Now Sargent, you just gave me an answer. You work so hard to not give anything away that I now know that she is important."
"Of course she is important. She is a person. Her late husband was a friend. She is very important to us and to the world but that doesn't make her Steve's family."
