The flight had seemed like an endless trip of emotion for both Bucky and Lyra. They were thrilled to be together again but everything that had happened was crashing down on them both. Bucky had been tortured for the first time in a long time and his mind was still reeling from it as well as the knowledge that Lyra had a rage in her that was as unquenchable as his own. This frightened him. What if she loses herself? What if he loses her because of it? He may need to keep her from ever being in a situation to fight again.
Lyra was reeling from the adrenaline and emotion that had pushed her on the entire time they were in Madripoor. She had been to the point of killing someone. That terrified her a bit but a part of her was thrilled by her own abilities as well. This was so much to take in and she needed to process it all. She noticed the way Bucky watched her as well. He saw the rage. She knew that but was he afraid of her or for her. That was the ultimate question right now.
The plane landed. Sam hauled the half alive mercenary to the infirmary and kept her under tight guard. They would question her soon but they weren't evil. They would let her heal a bit first. Hopefully some kindness would win her over.
Lyra and Bucky walked into the compound hand in hand and were rushed by Erik and Daisy who grabbed Lyra up in a huge hug. Erik jumped into her arms screaming "MOMMA!" Lyra swung him around and a few tears fell as she held him close.
"Hi my little love. Are you okay? " She looked him over, thrilled beyond words that he was okay. She didn't see a scratch on him. He seemed well fed and happy, his big light blue eyes shining back at her.
"Yes, Dr. Hulk man said I was okay. They didn't hurt me or Aunt Daisy, they just kept us cooped up." Erik answered her as he stared back into her dark blue eyes, his momma was back. He was overwhelmed with joy to be with his mother again. She was his person and he had been worried when she wasn't there when they arrived back. "Mommy, I'm glad you got Mr. Bucky back, but you scared me and aunt Daisy." He said scrunching up his face to show his concern and how upset he was.
"Oh baby, I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare y'all. I was fine."
"She was better than fine. She was tough as nails and took out almost all the mercenaries there alone." Bucky said with pride, but he was still wary of the rage he saw in her, and his eyes didn't shine as brightly as they should have. He had a wariness in them that Lyra spotted almost immediately. It hurt her to see it.
"Mommy?" Erik asked, his little eyes going wide..
"Yes, mommy went through a change after finding out some crazy information. Baby, um let's go into the living room area okay just us. You, Daisy, me and Bucky. We have a lot to discuss." Lyra said as they made their way inside. She carried Erik the whole way, holding him tightly to her like she might never get a chance to again. She had her little boy back and her man back. She felt whole.
"Okay, um well."
"She's speechless, that's a first. This must be huge!" Daisy exclaimed.
Bucky could see how nervous Lyra was to reveal her origin and the new baby so he reached across Erik and grabbed her hand. He looked into her eyes to help boost her confidence and nodded.
Lyra takes a deep breath and looks into his eyes as she begins to recount everything that happened at the train station and after. She looks at her little boy who is staring at her dumbfounded.
"Mommy, Steve Rogers is my great grandpa? Does that me I can get strong too?" Erik started to bounce a bit at the idea of himself being a superhero.
"Maybe, we have to run tests to be sure but you cannot go through any kind of change until you are grown. You understand young man. It does not feel good. Okay baby?" She looks at him seriously and Bucky does the same.
