"You want to know something?" I ask while swinging me and Newt's intertwined hands as we walk back down the beach.

Vince was apparently having a bonfire tonight in honor of our success, so after a quiet but extremely necessary stroll, Newt and I finally decided to start heading back. The sun was already setting behind the miles of ocean, making the sky illuminate in bright strays of orange and pink colors.

"Hm?" Newt hums, urging to go forward.

"If something good came out of me getting the flare it's  that I remembered my family." I smile at the one good thing that I managed to collect while being taken over by the virus.

"You did?" Newt responds, his eyes widen in both happiness and surprise. A smile tugs at the corner of his small, pink lips, showing joy for me.

I nod. "Not who they are, their names, or where they are now." I explain, "but I remember them."

"What do you remember about them?" Newt questions, wanting to know more details of my previous life that was torn away from me.

"I lived with my mother and father." I smile, remembering the only image in my mind that I had of my parents. "I also had two older brothers as well."

"Really?" Newt squeezes my hand to make me look at him. I do.

"Yeah," I grin again.

"I'm happy for you love," Newt speaks up, "and I'm sure they're proud of you. Wherever they might be."

"Thank you Newt." I grip his larger hand tightly.

We continue to walk back towards the camp, holding our sand filled shoes in our free hands. The feeling of the grainy, yet soft sand on my feet feels incredible. It feels like freedom.

"You're lucky you have Sonya." I break the silence amongst us, still staring at the path that lies ahead of me.

From the corner of my eye I can see Newt's head turning to look at me. He doesn't speak, probably feeling sorry for me since I don't have my blood family with me like he does.

"She's like you're sister," Newt tries to tell me. "Should've seen the amount of times she came in to visit you."

"How would you know?" I chuckle, realizing the only way Newt could know was if he were with me while I was unconscious.

"I tried to never leave your side," Newt confesses. His chocolate brown eyes digging into mine once I finally look over at him. "I wanted to be there when you woke up."

"Thank you," I repeat for what feels like the millionth time today.

"You don't need to thank me love," Newt gives me a soft half smile. His white teeth shining brightly, while the ocean breeze makes his dirty blonde hair fly messily in the air. Still he looks handsome, you could even say adorable."I should be thanking you for staying. Fighting the virus by yourself. I'm proud of you."

"I couldn't have done it without you." I reply, pushing away the loose strands of my h/l, h/c hair away from my face. The breeze, however, retaliates pushing my hair back into my face.

"We did it together," Newt corrects, never taking his eyes off of me. Almost like I were a piece of art, that he couldn't stop staring at. I love it when he looks at me like that.

I just about love every single thing about Newt. All of us have our flaws, but Newt seemed perfect to me. He would probably argue with me, telling me that he's not due to his limp, but I found Newt'a imperfections perfect as well. They helped shape him into the outstanding, courageous boy he is today, and I love him for being so strong.
