Song inspiration for this chapter. Enrique Iglesias' songs are perfect 😩 I prefer the Spanish version, but this book is in English so I chose this one.

10/01/21- wanted to update y'all and say my dream came true and I got to Enrique at the Chicago show and it was Incredible.

YN's POV:

"Quit bouncing love, you'll mess up the wrapping," Newt scolds me playfully as I sit next to him on the medical bed.

Quintin continues to wrap a new bandage around my injured stomach. I got to see the place where the knife hit my skin, but the scar wasn't too bad. It made me gasp when I saw it and regret filled me, mixed with sadness. But it was all okay now. It would eventually heal and that was all that mattered.

"I just want to see the Safe Haven." I grin anxiously, holding onto Newt'a hand.

"Just let Quintin wrap your wound and we can go," Newt chuckles. I look at the ceiling of the tent. The sound of the ocean's tides are daring me to run out of the tent and explore the safe haven. But I object and obey Newt's commands to better me.

"And you're all set," Quintin carefully tucks in the end piece of the gauze and immediately after I stand up.

"Come on Newt," I pull my blonde boyfriend up off the bed by his hand, impatiently wanting to see our new home. "Thank you Quintin!"

"I'm coming love," Newt grins as I drag him out of the white tent. "Thanks Quintin." He calls out to the curly haired boy as I finally escape the tent.

"Wow," I gasp, taking it all in. The coastline is a lot more beautiful than I pictured it. Giant tides crash on the beach. Along the coast, hardworking people begin to construct and build up the safe haven. Tents  align the newfound land. The bases of soon to be buildings are arranged in rows, waiting to be built.

Our home was finally safe.

It was perfect.

"We finally made it," Newt speaks up from beside me. I smile not wanting to take my eyes off of the incredible sight in front of me. "Here I'll show you around." Newt begins to pull me down the path and towards the construction area. Our intertwined fingers never letting go.

"YN!" A voice pipes up over the chatter of the working people. I scan the unfamiliar faces until I see the owner. It's Frypan. One of my fellow gladers. I was so happy to see that he had also made it this far. I grin, watching the tall boy who towers above the others, rush towards me.

"YN?" A few more voices question just as Frypan reaches me and pulls me into a friendly hug.

"Fry," I wrap my arms around one of my few glader friends that are still alive.

"Good to see you're doing well she-bean," Frypan pulls back. A giant smile covers the dark skinned boy's face and I could swear I saw a few tears glistening in his brown eyes.

"Aww Don't cry for me Fry," I touch Frypan's arm as he tries to wipe his tears away. He shakes his head and wipes his cheeks, brushing the small tears off.

"YN!" The other voices shout, a lot more confident that it's me this time.

I watch as Brenda, Aris, Sonya, and Harriet rush towards me. They all reach me at the exact same time, attacking me in a giant embrace.

"Hey guys," I hug the people I have befriended along the way through our long ass journey. Brenda, who was almost like a sister to me, Aris, the quiet boy who helped us escape, Sonya, my boyfriend's sister, and Harriet, the courageous girl I had gotten to know throughout the six months at the campsite. All incredible people who meant a lot to me.
