Dream and Sapnap drove back from the hospital. Chatting away, laughing and joking as they always did but Sapnaps mind was elsewhere. He didn't know how Dream was going to take the news that George had moved back to London.
They both came in the door. Sapnap went into the kitchen to start cooking them up some food and Dream ran upstairs in a hurry calling for George. He threw down his bag into his room and knocked on George's door but there was no answer. He knocked again, still no reply so he turned the handle.
He opened the door, the room was empty. His clothes had gone so had his mic and his keyboard. The room was bare, all that was left was the jumper Dream had gave him on the first day folded up in a neat pile on the bed."Sapnap!" He called with sheer desperation in his voice.
Sapnap was already there with a guilty look on his face."Where's George" Dream asked with tears welling up in his eyes.
"He went home Dream, back to London, he didn't want to cause you anymore worry so he left, I'm sorry".
Sapnap gave Dream a slight smile and opened his arms wide to give him a hug but Dream ignored it. He slumped back on the bed speechless and distraught. He looked up at Sapnap his eyes now full of water.
"Did I do this? Did I drive him away? He left me" Dream sobbed.
"You didn't Dream, George just couldn't deal with the idea of losing you, it isn't your fault" Sapnap placed a reassuring hand on Dreams shoulder.
"I'll leave you to have some time Dream, I'll call you when foods ready" Sapnap slowly left the room closing the door behind him.
Dream sat there on the edge of the bed staring at the wall. After a while he lifted the jumper to his face and breathed in George's scent, wishing to be in his arms one more time. He put the jumper over his head and laid in the bed curled up into a ball and closed his eyes. He felt something in the pocket, a piece of paper. He pulled it out wondering what on Earth it was, it was an envelope "Dear Clay" it read. It was George's handwriting. Dream carefully traced the ink with the tips of his fingers. It read:
Dear Clay,
If you find this I will be on a plane back to London. I think it's important to say that you didn't do this Dream, none of this is your fault. I couldn't deal with the idea of losing you so I ran, the house was full of too many memories and I couldn't live with the constant reminder that you wasn't with me anymore. Thank you Dream. You showed me what it means to be loved, what it feels like to laugh to the point where you can no longer breathe, to adventure to places I was too nervous to go. The truth is Dream I'm not scared anymore. I loved you Dream and I always will. But, just like the moon and sun desperately in love with eachother but destined to be apart, yearning to get a little closer but never being able too. And in one single moment, in the rare occasion of an eclipse they get to touch before being forced away by fate once more. We had our eclipse Dream but what we failed to know is that in an eclipse the world is plunged into an overbearing darkness. You were my sun Dream, you brought a light to my darkness and life to my solitude. Now it's time for fate to draw us apart once more. It's time for me to go. I don't want to cause anymore worry for you so I won't. I'll never forget you dream. Just like the blue flowers Dream, our love will always be as beautiful to me as it was to you.
I'll miss those green eyes.
I love you.
George.
A single tear fell off of Dreams cheek and soaked into the page as he realised in trying to understand his own darkness he had lost the only thing that brought him light.
