"Hey sis!! That thing came to pick you up!!!"
"Alright alright I'm cominggg!!!"
Lumine quickly ran to the front door and opened it to see Childe standing infront of her with a flower and a small box. Without saying anything, he put the flower in Lumine's hair.
It's been two weeks since Lumine came out of the hospital and sadly she's made no progress with remembering who Childe is. They've spent a lot of time together and she's starting to warm up to him.
"Eh? What's in the box?"
"Ah it's just a necklace... It reminded me of you so I had to get it"
He opened the box and took the necklace out. Clipping it around Lumine's neck then giving her cheek a small kiss.
It would seem to everyone else that Childe was taking the whole memory loss situation quite well but in reality he was really heart-broken. Sometimes, Lumine would ask questions that she normally wouldn't ask about him because they knew each other too well before... but now, all that was gone.
"Well I was planning to take you to a very special place today... it's a place you showed me but its my turn to show you"
Lumine nodded and took Childe's hand. They both walked to a bus terminal and waited for a bus. It was Sunday so the lines were very long. Lumine's knee-length dress fluffed up in the soft breeze and she quickly brushed it down.
"So what's so special about this place Ajax? Is it like pretty or something?"
"Yeah, I remember you said it was really pretty. You were very excited to show me and you specifically waited for our 3rd anniversary to show me"
Lumine giggled and stared up at him
"Well I guess I'll see for myself!"
The girl tried her hardest to never show her confusion. She knew it would hurt Childe if she told him she didn't know anything he was talking about. Of course, there are some things she can't lie about but if she can pretend to know, then she will.
The bus came and it was a short bus ride, only passing two stops before getting off. After a 5 minute walk, they reached an area with hanging willow trees and pretty flowers.
"Woah..."
Lumine looked around in awe as she absorbed in all the beauty in front of her. Childe sat down in the grass and Lumine sat next to him. Even though she tried her best to be open to him, it still felt awkward to do all this with a complete stranger
The same could be said for Childe. Even though it was still Lumine and he was still doing the things he normally did, something just felt off. It like she was a completely different person. He knew for a fact that everything everything they had been together... wasn't going to be the same.
"Well... do you like it?"
"Yeah I do!! It's super pretty!!!"
Lumine smiled but Childe saw straight through it. That fake smile looked so out of place and it made him question if Lumine was truly happy. It made him question their relationship before the accident.
"Hey look there's a bunch of butterflies over there!! And look at the pretty birds!!!"
Lumine exclaimed like a child and she jumped up, running to go see the animals. Childe sighed and clenched his fists. He would have to answer his endless train of questions later. Right now, with the time he has to spare with Lumine, he needed to try and help her remember.
"Hey is this ringing any bells for you?"
"Nope! Not at all!'l
Her cheerful tone soon faded away when she realised Childe wasn't happy. She took his hand and pulled him over to a bench. Sitting side-by-side, she put her hand on his shoulder.
"Look, I know you can see through all my fake smiles and stuff. I know you're trying your hardest to make me remember... but it's been two weeks and I've made no progress at all. Maybe it would be better to start from square one... I can't help but feel strange whenever you give me affection. I can't lie and say that I hate it but it doesn't feel right."
"Yeah I know... but I just can't let go of the past nine, almost ten years of dating. It carries a lot of memories that I can't forget..."
Both of them going back and forth on the subject didn't make either of them feel good. Once they both had nothing to say, Childe got up with Lumine following.
"I'll bring you home... then I'll think about what you've said..."
Lumine only hummed in response. The rest of the journey was silent. Neither of them spoke a word to each other and once Lumine reached home, a small goodbye and they parted ways
She unlocked the door and found Aether snacking on cookies while playing games on his phone. Pausing his game, he looked up to see a disappointed Lumine
"I take it didn't go well...?"
"Nope... I just couldn't fake it anymore..."
Aether sighed and put down his phone. Looking at his sister, he signalled her to come sit next to him. Once she sat down, he then gave her a small whack on the back of her head.
"Owiee!! What was that for???"
"Stop being such a close minded mole. You aren't gonna get back what you've lost if you keep faking."
Lumine looked down at her hands and fiddled with her fingers
"Not like I would know anything about having lost memories but me and Keqing have fought plenty of times before. One thing I've learnt from it is that in a relationship, honesty is a factor. If you keep pretending, nothing well get better"
Aether slowly lectured his sister, making sure she got every little piece of information into her head
"Is that clear? Now, I want you to apologise to him tomorrow. I'm waiting for Keqing so you'll wait to see Childe."
He got up to prepare dinner and left Lumine to think about everything her brother had just told her. Silently thinking to herself, could she do anything to help herself?

Aha this is what I do at 3am on a school night😌
I write dumb stories while listening to genshin character themes :DAnyways, this story seriously reminds me so much of my most recent relationship.
My ex-boyfriend was fed up dealing with my feelings because I was in a really depressing point in my life and I always turned to him for comfort. I had no one else in my life who could help so he was always there for me... or at least that's what I thought. He felt that he couldn't do anything anymore so he turned to blaming me for everything :D
And that's how I got my severe insecurities ^^Anyhow-
I actually wrote a decently long chapter for once T-T
Have a nice day y'all :p~*~*~
