Chapter 16

The Challenge

~Betty's POV~

We were heading to the door and were about to leave , but got interrupted again by Jessica . This bitch really gets on my nerves .
B-" What The Fuck Do You Want Jessica ?"  I was completely annoyed . Js-" I'm here to challenge you ."  
B-" What challenge ?" Js-" It's a fight between you and me . To prove that I'm better than you . And that I should be the Serpent Queen not you ."
B-" But I don't want to prove anything ." Js-" Why are you scared ?" She said in a baby voice . Cheryl and Veronica laughed . C-'' Bitch she will knock you down in 30 seconds ." 
Js-" You don't know what I can do."  B-" And You don't know what I can do . So back off ." I said and start heading to the door .  Js-" If you win you will be the Serpent Queen and If I win I'll be the Serpent Queen and you will not come near southside and Jughead." The bar went completely silent . I stopped in tracks and turn to face her  . J-" Betty Can I talk to you for a second ." Jughead said and dragged me by my hand in the corner . J-" Betty You really don't have to do this . It's a really big decision , being the Serpent Queen is very dangerous . You will have to face my difficulties  . I thought for few minutes and said B-" But what If I want to be the Serpent Queen."  J-" W-What ? You want to be the Serpent Queen ?" 
B-" Yeah . After going home I was actually going to talk to you . I want to join the serpents.". J-" Betty you don't understand being can be dangerous . And being the Serpent Queen can be.... very very dangerous ."  B-" I know jug , but I can handle it ."  J-" I know betts that you can handle it but I can't let anyone to hurt you ." I went closer to him and grabbed his hand and looked in his eyes  and said B-" Do you trust me jug ?"  J-" W-what ?"
B-" I said do you trust me ?"  J-" yeah , but…" B-" No buts . Do You Trust Me Or Not ?" He took a pause looked at our hands and back to my eyes and said 
J-" Yes , I trust you Betty Cooper." I smiled and dragged him back outside where everyone was gathered .  

B-" I accept the challenge. "  I said while still holding Jug's hand . He slowly intertwined our fingers . Js-" Ok then , tomorrow at sweetwater river . At 9 pm ."   B-" Ok cool." 
After that we left . And Kev and I decided that we would spend the night at Veronica's.  

[ At Veronica's ]

V-"So are you gonna tell me why I caught you and Jughead breathless standing very close to each other . "  B-" We kissed "  I mumbled  V/K-" WHAT!"  B-" We Kissed okay. " I said loudly K-" Oh My God oh my god . Bughead is rising !!" Kevin exclaimed B-" What , Bug….what?"  K-" Bughead that's yours and Jughead's ship name Betty+Jughead = Bughead ."  B-" ok ok . Now can we sleep?"  V-" No . We want to hear how it happened." Veronica said, getting all excited . B-" I was dancing with some guy when he dragged me in the corner . And we made out for a few minutes, that's it ." K-" Wow...So are you guys gonna date or something? " .  B-" I don't know kev, I think I was just a mistake . I mean we both were pretty much tipsy drunk  . I don't think he would even  remember this ." V-" Betty, you can't keep denying your feelings for him." 
I think about it and said B-" But what if he didn't feel the same ?" 
V-" Of Course he also has feelings for you . I mean the way he always looks at you like...you are the reason that he is alive . You can easily tell he has feelings for you…...Talk to him ok ."
  B-" Ok I'll talk to him ." I said with a weak smile and she smiled back . After that we went to bed . And I can't kept thinking about the kiss and Jughead.  

[Meanwhile]

~Jughead's POV~

I was laying on my bed , and I couldn't sleep. There were so many things going on my mind . I was thinking about Betty and  Our almost kiss  . I was also thinking about tomorrow's  challenge  , Betty being Serpent Queen , MY Serpent Queen.
I was thinking about how dad and Betty's parents would react when they found out about Betty joining Serpents . 
How I'll protect her . How she will handle the Serpents , because handling the Serpents is not an easy task . It can be very dangerous. And what if Jessica wins . I really don't want Jessica to be the Serpent Queen . Don't get me wrong but she doesn't even care about the Serpents . She is a Serpent only because her father was a Serpent.  She doesn't even attend our Serpent meetings and she only cares about her hookups . 

I fell asleep while thinking about all this. I was mostly thinking about mine and Betty's almost kiss. And how I'm going to tell her about my feelings . Because I really like her . 

[ Next Morning ]

I woke up around 11 pm . I checked my phone and I've got a text from Betty saying that she will be spending her day at Veronica's and she will directly meet me at the Sweetwater River at 9 pm . I replied with an 'ok' . After spending a few minutes on my phone I decided to get ready . I brush my teeth , took a shower  and get dressed into this .

After I got dressed I decided to go to Pops for breakfast .I was free today . So after having my breakfast at pops , I decided to hangout with the boys . So I texted Sweetpea and went to the Wyrm . I was really nervous about today .
