"Are you sure this is what you want to happen, Sal?" Brian asked for the tenth time.

He was stood in the bedroom doorway, clad in just his boxers and his hair was still a mess from the night before. I drew my eyes away from my phone and looked to the man, knowing that he was experiencing uncertainty over how things had played out with Caleb and the way that things between us ended the last time we dated each other.

"Brian, I promise you this is what I want." I reassured, sitting up and giving him my full attention. "Caleb taught me things, but that was only so that it would lead me back to you."

"I don't want to lose you again." Brian expressed nervously. "I can't go through that shit, Sal."

He took a step closer to the bed. "I'm sorry for being so anxious over this, but we've been here before and look how it ended."

"Don't be sorry," I comforted. "Brian, I understand. I don't want history to repeat itself either but it won't so long as we be honest with each other."

I watched the slight falter in his expression. "And I mean one-hundred percent honest, Brian. Okay?"

"Yes." He agreed. "I won't keep my struggles to myself and let them tear me down from the inside out."

I opened up my arms for him, laughing when Brian came crashing into my chest and enveloping me up in a loving bear hug. He pressed a number of kisses to my lips; his facial hair tickled against my skin. "I love you."

"I love you, too." I returned, constricting my embrace around him as we fell about the bed.

"What time did Caleb say we could come over to get your stuff?" Brian asked.

I reached for my phone and found the most recent message from Caleb. I have to admit that Caleb had handled the situation the day before better than I was expecting. I did love him, I never lied about that, but now I realise that the love was only meant to be temporary. Brian had come back into my life for a reason, and that reason was so that we could patch things up and get back together again.

"He said any time after lunch." I informed, returning my phone to the nightstand.

"Does he seem okay?" Brian wondered. "I feel really bad about what happened."

"He seems fine in himself." I explained. "I kind of feel bad too. I mean he must have felt completely led on by me..."

I sighed heavily. "But something in my heart just told me in that very moment that my time with Caleb had come to an end."

"All good things come to an end." Brian consoled. "That's why I keep coming back to haunt you."

I chuckled at his joke. "I'm stuck to you like glue, Sal. I'm like a turd that won't flush."

"Brian, do you always have to be so graphic?" I grimaced.

"Babe, that's just how I am." He was now laughing at me being grossed out at him. Brian pressed a firm kiss to my lips. "We should get ready to leave. Do you think all your stuff will fit in my car?"

"It should do." I nodded. "If not then I guess it'll just be a tight squeeze on the ride home."

"I'm used to a tight squeeze." Brian smirked.

"Get up." I rolled my eyes at the man, hearing his soft laughter.

"You still love me, anal sex jokes and all." He taunted.

"Yeah, yeah," I dismissed with a wave of my hand.

Parking up outside of my old apartment complex, it felt surreal that I was returning to collect my belongings so that I could move back in with Brian. We walked into the lobby and headed for the elevator; I pressed the button for my floor and as the doors closed, I heard Brian sigh to himself.
