The following morning, I awoke to a pair of arms holding me protectively against his chest as Brian remained asleep atop of me. Over the course of the night, he had pulled me tighter and tighter into his embrace until there was a gap no bigger than a slip of paper between us. The roughness of his bare skin was something that I was considering wanting to get used to again. It brought back so many memories of our time together as teenagers, creating a ruckus everywhere that we went – mainly Brian was to blame for that.
Stirring in his sleep, Brian eventually rolled onto his back and pulled away from me, leaving one arm sprawled out while the other remained trapped beneath me. I studied him under the morning glow of light that was shining through the window; the golden hue made him look even handsomer than normal. My eyes gazed further down his body, seeing how the comforter was riding low across his waist; a hint of the waistband to his underwear was visible. I looked closer, feeling a slight flutter in my tummy at the contours of his front that just about formed a 'V' shape – you know what I'm on about, don't deny how attractive that is.
Carefully, I moved from where I lay and sat up, letting my feet settle at the bedroom floor. I was overwhelmed by a full stretch before I scratched at my hair, messing the curls even more than the sleep had. I studied the sky through the window, watching a flock of birds fly by; I was soon brought out of my trance by the mattress dipping behind me. Looking over my shoulder, I came to find Brian just waking up. His hair was a tousled mess as he sprawled across the whole bed.
"What time is it?" He yawned.
"About time that your lazy ass got up." I chuckled.
"Nah." He smirked at me.
"Do you not have work today?" I questioned.
"Uh...no." Brian stammered. "I've been meaning to tell you, but me and the guys have gone full time with this comedy troupe thing."
"Oh really?" I wondered. "You must be getting quite the following behind you."
"Enough to quit the day job." He shrugged. "I really think that we can take this far."
"I hope so." I smiled at him, turning in my place to look at Brian properly. "You deserve it."
"Thanks, Sal." Brian appreciated, drawing me closer and pulling me back into bed. "How about you stay for just five more minutes?"
"Brian, I need to shower." I laughed lightly, trying to escape his restraint as he peppered kisses all over my cheeks and neck, pulling me on top of him.
"You can only shower if you can break free." He taunted.
We were laughing and wrestling each other, reminding me of the old times that I loved nothing more than just being carefree with him. We rolled all over the bed as Brian pressed loving kisses to my mouth; I could feel his smile print against me every time. The fun came to an abrupt stop however, when my phone began to dance along the bedside table blasting its ringtone. Caleb's name lit up the screen.
"Who is it?" Brian asked, sitting back on his knees.
"Caleb." I sighed. "And he wants to video call."
"Are you going to answer it?"
"I have to." I lamented. "Don't say a word and make sure you hide."
"You got it." Brian concurred as he scaled further down the bed and clambered down onto the floor behind the frame.
I took my phone in my hand and hit my thumb at the green accept button. It soon connected me with my loving boyfriend across the other side of the country as we smiled at each other through the screen.
