Special Training

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Your senses alerted you awake, responding to the loud noise at your front door. Surprised, you see the clock read 11 in the morning. Rarely have you ever slept past 8 or 9 in the morning. You quickly throw on clothes and run to answer your door. 

Outside you see Naruto and a very unenthusiastic Sasuke. "What are you guys doing here?" you asked the boys.

"We had to help rescue a cat from a tree this morning. Apparently all of the genin are traveling to the Hidden Sand village to train, so only us jounin are left to do these stupid missions" Sasuke replied, attempting to cover up the small scratch marks on his hands.

Naruto on the other hand, made now attempt to cover any of the cat scratches that covered his arms. "Yeah, and when we gave our report to Granny Tsunade, she told us to let you know that you're wanted in her office."

A million thoughts rush through your mind. Did I forget to submit a report? What if I had a mission today? You frantically think of any reason as to why the Hokage needed to see you.

"Alright, thanks guys. Next time, knock like a normal person Naruto." You say, giving them both a goodbye wave.

Sasuke waves back as he says "You know, I tried to tell him but he's too big of an idiot to understand."

"Hey, what was that? You're an idiot, not me!" Naruto whines back as the two start to bicker amongst themselves. 

You shut the apartment door, drowning out the argument between the boys. After finishing your morning chores, you head towards the Hokage's office, praying that you weren't in any trouble. Usually, you would run across the rooftops wherever you went, but today you decided to walk, just in case you had another one of those super intense headaches. 

The streets of Konoha were flowing with activity. Shops lined the main street of the village, the different smells from all of the food stands filled your nostrils. A few kids ran by you, laughing to themselves as they played with a ball. 

You took in all of the sights as you continued on your walk, promising yourself to buy something sweet if you're not stripped of your ninja duties. 

With each step you take, the higher your anxiety gets. By the time you've reached the door to the Hokage's office, you think your chest is going to burst from the built up pressure. You take one big gulp as you knock on the door.

"Come in." 

As you opened the door, you say "I heard you wanted to see me, Lady Tsunade."

"Ah, y/n! Yes I did. Shut the door and I will tell you why I summoned you." Tsunade replies, pushing aside all of the papers sprawled out in front of her.

You slowly walk toward the middle of the office, doing your best to hide your nerves. 

Tsunade says, "Y/n, I've been looking into how we can strengthen our shinobi forces. You are one of our top jounin, so we decided to create this opportunity for you, if you wish to take it."

You give a nod, showing that you're listening. She continues. "We are offering you a chance to train with the Special Forces Unit. For the next few months, you will train with current and former members of the force. After your training, you can decide if you want to become a permanent member of the unit or not. Whether you join or not, the training will be of value to your skills." She smiles at you. "You'll meet with one of the members who will train you today, at the private training grounds."

This is not what you expected at all. You felt confident in your skills as a ninja, but you didn't know that even the Hokage was keeping an eye on you. You gave her a bow as you say, "Thank you for this opportunity, Lady Tsunade." You can't contain your smile as you stand up.
