It was about 1 in the afternoon before you departed with Kakashi on this small trip he planned. Even though he had been with you this morning, he had still managed to be late to your meeting time. When he arrived, his summoned his ninja hound, Pakkun, and you all left the village, walking along the wide dirt road.

"So where are going to do some 'not training'?" you ask, making conversation because you didn't like the silence.

"You'll see." He looks on ahead at the road. "Have you given it more thought?"

You reply to Kakashi by giving him a confused look, unsure of what he's talking about.

"Joining the Special Forces. Have you given it more thought? You've trained for about 2 months, leaving 1 more month for you to decide." He stated, continuing to look at the road.

"Oh, yeah I have. I think I'll do it. I want to become a strong ninja, like my parents were. Well, better than them actually. Becoming Hokage doesn't sound too bad either." You give him a wide grin as he laughs. "You may have to fight Naruto for that."

You flex your muscles as you say "Not a problem." The two of you playfully laugh as you walked further and further from the village.

The answer you gave Kakashi wasn't a lie, you definitely wanted to be apart of the Special Forces. It was a great opportunity and you didn't want it flying by you. What does that mean for your relationship with Itachi, you're unsure. You decide to play it out, seeing what fate decides.

"Almost there, slowpokes." Pakkun yells back at you and Kakashi. You wondered why he was summoned today, but you enjoyed the little brown dog's company.

As you walked to the top of the hill, your destination came into view. A medium sized, two story brick building came into view. It was surrounded with a fence, the yard littered with toys. There was even a tire swing on one of the trees.

As you got closer, you read "Leaf Orphanage" on the mailbox. Why did Kakashi bring you here?

"I can see you're confused. Play a while, and maybe you'll see why I brought you here." He said under his breath. The caretaker, Kabuto, came outside, hearing the kids yell something about a dog. He smiled and waved at you and Kakashi, welcoming you to the little orphanage in the woods.

"Kakashi! It's been a minute since we've seen you! How are things in the village?" Kabuto asks, fishing out a dog treat for Pakkun. Pakkun ate the treat quickly, then ran off to play with the kids.

"Good, good. We had some free time today so thought we'd stop by. This is Y/n, she's training to become a member of the Special Forces." Kakashi replied.

"Wow, that's great. Well, I've got some cleaning to do by stay and hangout for a while. The kids love having visitors." He waved goodbye and went back into the building.

A few kids approached you, slightly shy because of your ninja bag and headband. You took off the headband and let them play with it, making the kids less shy to be around you and inviting more to come play.

They asked you to play tag and duck-duck-goose, and you even had to push the kids on the tire swings for a while. They loved you, and playing with them made you so happy. But a thought in your mind pulled at your heart.

You were lucky compared to these kids. You had known your parents, and they left enough money for you to take care of yourself. Some of these kids don't know their parents, they were just dumped here.

After more laughters and playtime, you soon realized why Kakashi brought you here. Ninja's were created to protect their villages, not just village resources or the land it was on, but the people. These were the people you protected. You were protecting the future of the village. Someday, they would want to become a ninja just like you.
