Stay With Me

To say your first mission on the Special Forces squad was amazing and everything you'd thought it would be, would be a total lie. For 3 days, Crow Squad chased any and every lead they could find, searching through dense forests and muddy fields. All to turn up nothing.

The Dark Ninja left trails of whispers everywhere he went, but even this squad with its amazing talent wasn't enough to find him. It was like he was smoke that was slipping through your fingertips, never to be caught. But how is that even possible? Every person is caught eventually.

Your gut told you something was up. What if this Dark Ninja was being protected, or sheltered from being caught in some way?

This was definitely plausible. Even thought the Dark Ninja left destruction in his wake, he also claims to be a true hero; a true shinobi fighting for the people instead of money and status. Some villagers agree with this new ideology, that someone has stepped up to do what shinobi "should have been doing" this entire time.

But more than leaving the world more peaceful, its just becoming more chaotic. The fine line of right and wrong is becoming more and more blurred. People are taking matters into their own hands following the Dark Ninja's example. The whole situation is a total mess and it gives you a headache trying to sort everything out.

When Crow Squad returned from their mission, everyone was exhausted. It felt like you all were led on a wild goose chase, yielding no results. But before anyone could go home, Chief Yamato wanted a full report on every rumor and clue you followed.

You were happy to learn that HQ had showers and locker rooms for everyone. After 3 days of searching and hiding, you desperately needed a shower. Itachi had ordered the squad to get cleaned up before any reports were written, and he didn't have to tell you twice.

Following Izumi, the two of you made your way to the women's locker room and showers. It was only the two of you in this large bathroom and it was almost a little awkward. You couldn't prove it, but you felt like Izumi's eyes were glued onto you and Itachi the entire mission. You and Itachi made sure to not let anyone suspect a relationship, so you didn't think she could suspect you.

Showering next to each other, the only thing separating your showers was a half wall divider. As you began lathering shampoo in your hair, Izumi spoke.

"Great job on the mission. I know it wasn't super exciting for your first one on the squad, but thats how they've been lately." She starts to wash her hair, using what looks like slightly expensive shampoo. She definitely doesn't shy away from her clan's wealth.

"It definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but it was a good chance to learn everyone's skills and become more of a team," You stood under the water, rinsing your hair, closing your eyes so you didn't have to look at her.

"I don't think you have to worry about not fitting in with this squad. We're kind of an odd bunch." Her giggle almost sounds fake, like some school girl laughing at you because of some crude inside joke that only she knew.

"Besides, it seems the Captain is fond of you."

You flinch, but keep washing your hair as if what she just said didn't bother you. You can't let her see you react, or she'll know.

"Well, I did meet him before the rest of you," you cover, "He's the one that trained me for this squad."

"I'm not so sure that's why," Izumi says, getting to what she really wants to say. "It's how he looks at you, there's something more to it than just camaraderie."

You stay silent as you started to wash your body, needing to act like this was no big deal.

"I should know because he used to look at me that way. You know, since we were supposed to have an arranged marriage."
