Ch. 50 | The Not-So-Happy Birthday Boy

The Sports Fest ended in just a blink of an eye. We didn't win but we came in second place. On the second day, We lose against 1-C. In the other sections, we all won. Well, that's a great way to end the school year. Graduation is in the next 3 weeks and it's pretty far. Alissa and Demi still haven't shown up or communicated with us via text or calls. And that makes me still uneasy.

The day before Tristan's Birthday.

"Are you guys finished? They're here already!" Jace shouted at us.

"Yeah, I'm finished!" I shouted then grabbed my trolly bag. It contains all of my things including my hoodies and shirts, slippers and shoes, mosquito repellant lotion, perfume, and grooming kit. I was wearing square pants and a t-shirt.

I rushed outside and went inside the van quickly. I already got nauseous because of the smell of the air conditioner. The last time when we went to the Classio, the air conditioner was off but this time...

"Hey, Selena! What are you still doing?! Get beside Antaios!" Kathy smirked. "Nothing is wrong, right?"

"I kinda... I feel nauseous because of the air conditioner." I said.

"Dude, Tristan! Can you turn off the air conditioner? We'll just gonna open the windows here" Antaios shouted

And yeah, he shut down the air conditioner while I suddenly sat near- uh I mean beside Antaios.

"Hey, Babe." Said he.

I was stunned for a while. I totally forgot about our relationship! But, it's cringy.

"Don't call me that, It gave me goosebumps!" I pretended to be cold.

My Brothers entered the van. I was not that happy because Alissa and Demi were not there. They were supposed to be there but they're not because of last time.

We arrived at Hainan Peak after a couple of hours. The view of the mountains was incredibly pretty and high. The cold summer breeze made my hair fly into the air. Antaios suddenly held my hand and shown me a smile. So I smiled back at him.

"Hey, Guys! Whose that car?!" Katherine shouted then we turned around, seeing the red car. "Didn't we reserved the whole mountain?"

"Wait, Lemme check." Tristan walked into the car to check who was the person inside.

"Alissa!" Tristan and we were shocked by what we saw. Alissa suddenly went out of the car and grabbed her bags.

"What took you so long? I've been waiting for you for like... 2 hours!" She rolled her eyes.

"Woah, Sis! I thought you won't come?" Jaxon grinned.

"Don't you know it's boring at home? And without my dear twin brother, who would make me fruit loops? Who would wash the car?" She said. "Aren't you worried that I'm the only one at home? What if some weirdos break into our house? I'm not as brave as Selena, you know!"

"Yeah, right." Jaxon rolled his eyes. "Let's get going, guys. We don't wanna be late hiking, right?"

"Yeah, we should go."

We went hiking. It's so exciting because the higher we hike, the harder. We even sang "Happy Birthday" while moving. I was still holding Antaios's hands tightly because I'm scared I might fall off. He even said, "the bones in my hands were broken" because he said that I held his hands very tight and it does hurt him.

"We should camp here for today. I think we've climbed enough." Tristan said. "For now, we should set up our tents. I packed a food buffet for us."

"Happy birthday Tristan!" Antaios exploded the confetti while we all shouted in joy.

We sang "Happy Birthday" while Michael was holding the cake. We cheered when he blew the 18 candles.

"Smile here!" Katherine started taking pictures with her camera. "3, 2, 1, Cheese!"

"Wow! We now had our first group photo! I can't believe it!" Alissa looked at Kath's camera.

I noticed Tristan sighed and was feeling down. But that time I didn't pay much attention because I am not sure if he's sad or just tired.

"Tristan! That's not all!" I tried to cheer him up. "So, here are the presents coming from your folks. It's not time to be tired yet!"

I pushed the whole cart of presents. It was coming from my Brothers, Alissa and Jax, Michael, and Antaios. Her Parents also handed us their presents by shipping them to us and they arrived yesterday. It was the biggest one.

"Dude!" Michael gasped. "That's so many! Lucky you! You receive tons of gifts from tons of fellas! Happy Birthday and stay who you are!"

"Thank you," Tristan said. "Hey guys, if you have a long sweet message to me, say it now. I would appreciate it!"

"I have!" Alissa stood up in the crowd. "Dear Tristan Vesper, Thank you for all your hilarious jokes, It does cheer us up. Thank you for being mean to us, Your mean words are meaningful. Hoping you very good health and good life! Stay ugly!"

"Wow! When did I become mean to y'all? Yeah, I know I make hilarious jokes but I'm pretty sure I'm not mean! And also, I ain't ugly Alissa!" He rolled his eyes. "You called me mean and ugly? Don't eat any single food that I brought."

"No! I mean... You are so handsome! Remember when you become the Escort of our team? You even played basketball and that made you very popular among girls!" Alissa smirked at him.

"Yeah, right." He rolled his eyes. "You just said it for food."

We dug in the food buffet he prepared. We're eating while laughing because of all the things that Michael said. While I noticed once again that Tristan felt sad again. He said that he's gonna get something by his tent, but when I followed him, he was like... sightseeing. He was just looking at the trees, and at the stars. I have no choice but to go to him and ask.

"It's just... I don't feel happy. I mean, what happened earlier cheered me up but... I still feel like all of that isn't enough. Something is missing." He sighed.

"Let me guess, It was Demi. It wasn't something. It was someone." I sat beside him.

"Yeah, I guess." He responded. "How did you know? Did you read my mind?"

I giggled after he said that. Am I a shaman or what? If I can do that I would've just guessed the exam answers.

"It's just... I think you and Demi have some special relationship from the start. I even saw you two sitting on the bench when she accidentally drank a cream. And I noticed that you also followed her to the restroom, and I think you're doing that out of concern." I said. "What really are you two?"

"You're the only one that I'll tell you this. We used to be classmates when we were in elementary and we don't get along very well. She always hated me because I always pull pranks on her. Just like your relationship with Antaios-"

"We're dating." I cut him off and immediately told him.

"O-Oh! That's pretty cool! You know, from enemies to lovers!" He was stunned.

"Yeah. Maybe you and Demi will be like us too! That's why you've been waiting for her to come right? Although it's not that possible."

"Hey, Tristan" Alissa was behind us. She was holding a present. But from what I know, she already gave him a present! But I'm not sure. Alissa is also rich, so she can give him tons of presents.

"You calling me? Why?" Tristan asked.

"Here." Alissa gave her the present.

"From Demi. She told me to give this to you."
