Ch. 26 | Her Family Problems

I feel like something happened to her. Maybe, Family Problems? I wish she'll reply.

After a few hours, I decided to come to Katherine's house. She's not replying to my texts!

"Hey Bros. I'm going somewhere today" I said then headed to my room to pick up some stuff. Then headed out after.

I walked outside the waited for the next bus to come. I didn't change my outfit because I know what I'm wearing right now can be worn outdoors.

I looked into my phone because Katherine sends me her address before when it's her 18th Birthday. It's on our conversation. When the bus arrived, I put on earphones then walked inside the bus. I sat in the back seat because I like sitting there.

I leaned my head on the window while listening. This is what I usually did when I was alone on a bus. I decided to text Antaios if they arrived safely.

; Hey, You already home?

After texting, I leaned once again and looked at the window. After a minute, I arrived at the Next Stop so I left the bus. Katherine's house is near here. So I should just walk so my body will be exercised. I was too fat.

I walked and walked till I find what Kath has sent me. Their house was uptown so it was pretty far. All I can remember is, They own a bakery and Kathy helps there sometimes when our classes are over. Sometimes Kath gives us a Walnut Pie. And when it's her 18th Birthday, We partied near that bakery so, I'm gonna find that bakery.

I arrived at the bakery. Someone is working at the cashier so I came in and asked her.

"Hello, I am Selena. Katherine's Friend. I was just wondering if Katherine is doing alright because last night, She left without telling us." I asked.

I was shocked again and my eyes went big because she cried. "Oh! Are you okay miss?! I'm sorry if I made you cry! Let's sit here, Miss. So we can talk properly". I led her to the table near the window. I sat in front of her and gave her my handkerchief so she can dry her tears.

"I was overreacting, Aren't I? I really apologize." She said.

"No, Miss. It's Okay. Is there something wrong with her?" I asked once again.

"I really feel sorry for her. I stopped her from reaching her dreams. She wanted to take Criminology to be a Detective. But I was too dumb. I humiliated her in front of my friends. So, she left the house. She said she'll be out for a minute yesterday then she doesn't come back. I am an alcoholic. I guess she's tired of it." She cried.

Is she Mrs. Hunts?! Kathy's Mother?!

"Oh. It must've been hard for you, Mrs. Hunts. But, I'll try my best to pursue her to come back! For you! Please give me some time" I tried cheering her up by doing a favor for her.

"Really?! Omg, thank you! I'm so grateful for Kathy because she has a friend that is so kind. Thank you, Selena!" She hugged me.

"You're Welcome, Mrs. Hunts" I hugged her back.

After that long time of drama, We finally finished our serious talk and I waved at Mrs. Hunts as I walked back.

I have promised Mrs. Hunts to go to Kath and talk to her. I won't let her down. I'll do it for Kathy's sake. But, My problem is.. how I can track Kathy's location if she won't reply to me. I'll try to text her again.

; Hey Kathy! Feel free to send me your location! I'll come to you and we can talk about it :) That's what friends for, Right?

I wish she replies. I'll ask what Alissa's up to.

; What you up to, Girl?

I sat at the waiting shed because I feel tired of walking. I waited for any reply and finally, Katherine replied.

; Selena. I need you.

I was shocked when I saw this. I didn't expect her to reply like this. But, Why not? I like the fact that she replied. But, I need to ask her first for her address.

I texted her where she is right now. Then she replied that she is with Charles and she also texted her location. ; I'm at the Baywalk with Charles. They might be official now. I should go there quickly, She might really need someone to rely on. Including Charles.

I walked through the bus stop and take the route to Cassette. The Baywalk is super near there. Maybe 40 steps you are already at the Baywalk.

I left the bus and walk as fast as I could. Then, at last, I arrived at the Baywalk with 40 steps. If I were tall I would arrive here with just 20 steps. My feet are just too.... short?

I saw both of them at the dock sitting. Kath looked like she's down and Charles was comforting her. But Charles has his glasses back again unlike the last time we saw him at the clinic. He's wearing a checkered shirt and inside that, A plain white t-shirt. While Katherine is wearing a Plain Black dress and a Jogger. I called them as I walk to them closer.

"Kathy!" I shouted and ran to her.

She burst into tears and hugged me. While Charles was just looking at us two. "Is there something wrong, Kath? I'll be here to listen. I'll try to help you if I can" I said while holding her shoulders.

"Selena, I-I'll be leaving Cassette soon!" She cried to me.

"W-What?! But why?!" I asked immediately.

"My Father, He left us." She bowed her head the wiped her tears. "He was overseas, Working hard for our tuition and our life. He's been there in three years. But, Mom messed up."

"What do you mean?"

"Yesterday, My Dad arrived at home. But, He didn't like it and he got angry at what he saw. He saw 5 empty bottles of whiskey on the floor. That time, I was with you guys when we had dinner with your grandma. And the night, I was extremely drunk just like You, Alissa, and Tristan. Never knowing that something bad is happening with them. My sister texted me that night, But I didn't read it. I feel so bad that, I was out there drinking but my Parents are already having a fight and problematic. And that makes me left this early morning at 4:00 AM. At the time that I arrived, Mom was crying while she's leaning at the table. And she, told me every word that my Dad said. I feel very angry with myself because of what my Father said. "You put alcohol first instead of your daughters! What are you doing?! Both Kath and Kendra are mature now. I know that! But they still need caring!" When Mother said that, I feel bad for Mother. She isn't the best Mother, But I still love her. That's why I ended up here because of what my mother said, That we have no more money for my tuition. And that... Breaks my heart so much" She explained.

"Kathy, I don't think your Dad will leave you like that, He loves both of you. Especially your Mother. Maybe he just needs some time to calm down. And then he'll come back. Just be patient, Kath." I tapped her shoulders.

"Your family will be okay soon, Kath. I'm sure of that" Charles said after. He seems to be worried about her, too.

"Thanks, both of you." She smiled at us.

"Should we keep it a secret? Or should we tell others?" I asked her.

"I think, We should keep it a secret, for now, Selena." She replied.

"Hey, Charles! You know, You are a Good Boyfriend. You were the first one to be there if Kathy encountered a problem. I know you didn't know me and you just saw me today for the first time. But, I really loved you to be with Kathy. Kathy has never gotten a Boyfriend. The time that Kathy has gotten a crush for the first time, I feel excited. You know, She is not interested in a so-called "crush", but she finally has it. Our friends also got shocked. And then, You two are already together, Dating! I feel happy! Like, I won a lottery!" I giggled.

"Hey, Selena! Stop it" She feels embarrassed.

"I liked her since the day I met her. She's so tough, She carries all the packages at the Lakeside Shop by herself. And also, She's so cheerful. And I like it".
